I hope this is the right place. Hi this is my first post here. I have a 2003 avalanche I bought a replacement passenger door from a 2005 avalanche. The wiring doesn’t connect/ match up. Is there some sort of adapter to make this work? Or suggestions?

My goal is to restore it. I replaced the heater core and after that monstrosity of a job we have a bond :)

Don’t know of any adapters. The best bet is to find the wiring harness and door module from an 05. I’m assuming that the original one from yours can’t be used? The door module (aka window/lock switch) has to be programmed to the truck, so if you can use your original one it’ll make life a lot easier

The new door (2005) is complete with panels and controls, the wiring harness at the hinges is where the problem is. The new harness doesn’t fit into the 2003 harness.

i still have the old door & wires.

post pic of differences.
Might be new door has more features and such different connectors

You should be able to remove the pins from both harness connectors on the doors and switch the connector from your '03 to the '05 (if the pins are the same type--may or may not have a detailed look first).

There is a tool that makes the pin removal easy. Otherwise, you could cut and splice the old connector to the new harness.
