Draft From Door Handle

Anyone notice the inside door handle doesn't have a rubber boot between the handle and the inside of the door? Not one of the 4 doors does! Obviously a source of a draft that I noticed on the cool mornings. Is this a design flaw, or did the assembly line run out of them the day they built my Av?

They do not have a rubber boot just that plastic thingy with a hole in it.

the door panel does have a plastic sheet glued on to the door to help prevent air but there are a few holes in it for wires door lock linkage and the door handle.

Remove your door panel and seal around these items but be careful on the linkages to allow them to move.

No rubber boots on my doorhandles either. Last Monday morning the temp was 10 below zero and the air blowing through the handle "opening" was most unpleasant. I'm sure Chevy will fix this on the 03's.

The only time I noticed any kind of draft at all is if I held my hand right next to the handle. I was buried in 5-6 feet of snow and I wasn't moving and the wind was blowing aroung 50 mph so I wasn't too worried. I got out 6 hours and two tow trucks later at day break. ??? ;D

Is it possible that the air infiltration is because the cladding is connected by clips into holes in the sheetmetal of the doors? I would think this would be a direct route for really cold air to be felt in the door handle area. Seems like the air would have a pretty straight shot through those holes which I would think are not completely sealed by the clips. (?) Just a thought but I suspect GM will find an easy fix. Or, you guys could move south...if its that cold...it was not meant for human habitation!

My silverado also has a slight draft from the door handle

My moms 00 blazer has a horrible draft from the door handles. It will give you frost bite if its 40 degrees or lower outside

I had the same type of draft on my '97 Tahoe, and I've heard others with Silverados complain about the same thing. May just be a GM truck thing...

I took my AV to the Dealer yesterday and ask then to fix the air coming in through the door handle and switches. They told me it way common problem and they could put some foam rubber around the handles but couldn't do anything about the switches.
They took the door panels off and installed the foam rubber on the handles and it looks and works great. No draft! :D

Cool. It's nice to hear something getting fixed right the first time. ;D ;D

Strangely enough, mine doesn't have this problem at all (built 1/02).
