Does anyone know if the Draw Tite 41930 will also fit on a 2003 1500 Z71? I see everyone using them on their 2500 and I would like to put one on my 1500.

I just purchased and for some reason the original owner told the dealer not to include trailer hitch when they purchased the truck although it does have the trailer package go figure!

Thanks...

Some people have gotten it to fit on a 1500, if you do a search 41930 you will see them

Just out of curiosity.....

What’s the difference between the factory 1500 vs 2500 hitch? Is it just the towing capacity?

Factory hitch 1510679 is the same for all GM large SUV both 1500 and 2500 and is a class 3 hitch

They warn you it can tow up to 12,000" lb when properly equipped.

I guess I did "see" the other posts about the 41930 hitch being used on a 1500, I just didn't know! I did not know that they discontinued the 2500 after 2006. Anyhow, I'm ordering one, seems the best way to go to get past the crumple zone. Although I may never have had an issue with a shorter railed hitch, I'm the type that would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it. "Does not compute" for me with the short rail. Too OCD'd or is it OCDeed or OCD', hmm.

Yes, better to be overkill and take the weak link out of that part of the chain. You will feel better inside knowing even if you can't feel the difference in towing with the heavier duty hitch.

The hitch that came on my 2500 PN 15153212 and had a V-5 rating on it of 12000 lbs. I never had a problem with it but I changed it anyway to the Resse Beast/Titan 45013 2-1/2 just because of the way it mounted on the frame farther forward and because of the reviews from members here like MS03 2500. It defiantly feels stronger in the rear when towing a heavy load.

Also make sure your ball mount and ball are rated up there with the receiver, it doesn't make sense to have a 10,000 lbs rating on receiver and a 3500 lbs rating on the ball mount or ball but I've seen it.

I use the "Convert-A-Ball" ball mount. It has a Polyurethane interior acts as a shock absorber to reduce vibration, no big clunk when accelerating or braking.

Happy trailering...

I'll stand corrected my stock hitch had a yellow sticker that had the class 3 on it.
