The original owner must have parked under a pine tree and got tree sap on the bed covers, well now it is seriously dried on there. Anyone have any tips to remove the sap without damaging/discoloring the covers??

I’ve tried sap removal, chipping away at them, etc, with no real good results. I need to add some protectant to them, but I want to remove those sap spots first.

try putting ice cubes on them to get the sap very cold and brittle and then pick themoff with fingernail or flat screwdriver or something.

Otherwise you will have to dissolve them...

maybe liberal amounts of WD40 or yoru sap remover... etc..
just takes time isall.

Thanks. They are already bone dry and brittle. I can chip away at them but they leave behind a residue that is stuck to the covers. Guess I’ll have to hit it with the dissolver until it’s gone.

yup... elbow grease works wonders....

Goo gone may help...
or let it soak with peanut butter as it has oils which can soften what is left in the grooves and then use toothbrush (OLD) or other stiff nylon brush to remove this residue.

Be careful with rubbing alcohol; it can discolor black plastic. Try Goo Gone and let it sit for a good while. You can also try Mequiars Bug & Sap remover followed by their plastic polish

I thought of one more thing for you...

White vinyl drafting eraser.... I have used it on bed panels for spot treatment and works well but you do need to apply protectant when done... as it also removes all the fading white stuff.

I don’t think those will work. They’re made for erasing pencils. Thanks though.

I’m going to give the GooGone a shot and see if that does anything.

I have used the eraser they remove stuff from cladding.
GO back in this section to and you can find some threads where I use it and post pics.

Does take elbow grease
