Has anyone had the drivers door grab handle crack from using as a support to get up into the drivers seat? Mine is cracked (that way when I bought 1/20. Heard there was a standard repair but can’t find the thread.
TIA

There are many threads about door handle issues and whether to repair or replace. Most posters complain about poor design and blame GM.
Those in the repair side of issue usually take door panel off and glue the broken parts back together some with a homemade backing plate of metal or plastic to give area more strength. Others just replace with factory parts.
After either way of fixing things I have always advised training yourself and you passengers of a different way to climb in or close the door. I learned since my 1980 Corvette which also had a poor design door handle that you lower the window and grab top of door to pull close. It also can be done on entry of an AV to lessen chance of damage. Also on driver side the steering wheel can be used as a grab handle to climb in.
I know some may talk of damage to door hinge or steering wheel but I guarantee you my family members and myself are very heavy and we have not had a door or steering wheel breakage in 40 plus years of driving Corvettes, Suburbans and AVs.

This is a newer vehicle to me, I’m familiar how to get in and out of a vehicle without damaging or causing further damage. I’m a full size guy ad well.
the question was more to the specific repair of the grab handle. You can’t see it in this picture, but it is cracked on the bottom side halfway around the handle. I was hoping someone had run into this issue and had a good solid fix for the handle.

Using the search function in upper right I found 5 pages of threads using search term "broken door handle" many threads have photos and videos of the repairs being done. Hope that helps you, good luck with your repair efforts.
