Driving with window removed?

First thing I did after buying it.  We've been having abnormally hot weather for this time of year.  Maybe tomorrow I will rock with the bed panels off and the midgate down and glass out - see how that goes

That's a good way to clean the bed also. >:D

If ya have anything in the bed that you want put it under the rear seat.

sometimes after I wash the truck I drive with the windown removed, the back down, the three covers removed and the tailgate removed LOL  Ive had people at stop lights ask me if I had it customized lol

I do it alot to I love it!  Never had any trouble with debris coming in, even drove around on dirt roads with it out and didn't have a problem.

Hey Shanes 02 Avalanche,

That's an awesome signature you have and it is so true..........

You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich.
You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong.
You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift.
You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down.
You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred.
You cannot build character and courage by taking away people's initiative and independence.
You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.

I had no idea you could even remove the window without also lowering the mid-gate... very cool!  Is there any special modifications needed to do this?

Nope you just lower the back seat and the window sits in the midgate holders. Thats is it. It takes about 30 seconds from start to finish.

Same here I just put the window on the back seat. Now tomorrow it's suppose to be over 95 degrees so I may have to use the AC

Had the rear window out for a week now... kids in the back seat love it!  Great to drive down the street with all 4 windows down plus the rear window out.

Yup mine is out in good weather, if it's 90 degrees then I put it back in and turn on the air. In michigan when it gets hot it's humid. That why I love the Great Lakes state.

If you have a sunroof open it.

I've done it a couple times.  Here is a question for you guys, do you leave it out when you're at a restaurant or other place where you leave the truck unattended for an extended period of time? Or do you put it back in?  Although I live in a safe area and areas around me are rather safe, I still don't think I would leave it open while I am away from it.  I'm afraid someone might crawl in and who knows what they would do...

Thoughts?

I think it depends on the place. I left mine out at Yosemite last week, and we wentup to Bridaval Falls for about 1 hour. Now if i was in Fresno, I would put it in no matter what.

I took mine out again last weekend, and I was a little worried because I was out on the dirt country roads rather than the city streets and didn't want a bunch of sand or dust filling up the inside of my cab.  I actually had the window out and the midgate down with all the bed panels off.  I'm sure more dust got in than normal (not even noticeable), but if you clean it regularly it's not a big deal... plus it was a ton of fun!

The reason I had everything "transformed" was because I was headed out to a lake party and we were all camping out.  I had the only Av out there, and let's just say midgate transformation had a constant crowd from all the Dodge/Ford/Toyota truck owners and I was answering a lot of questions!

what does the midgate holder look like? I'm pretty sure mine is gone if there is one for the back window. I know that my holders for bed panels is gone as well.  :E:

On your midgate inside the cab you should see 2 I'll call them dials that lock the glass in place TeamYardsale

oh wow what an idiot. I def must have misread a post somewhere thinking that you were talking about a place to keep the back window when you take it out.  :E: of course I have the 2 "dials" to unlock the midgate. hahaha

Actually, he was talking about a place to store the WINDOW when you remove it. There is a dial on either side of the inside of the midgate. You slide the glass in there and that holds it in.  :needhug: now.
