Driving with window removed?

Too late now, but it is a shame that a bit more engineering didn't go into creating a power window that went into the mid gate.  How cool would that have been.  Spontaneous all windows down?.
Only problem with that is the ability to drive with the window in place but the midgate down and bed panels in place to haul stuff in the rain etc......

I just wish there was somehere to put the back window other than the backseat or my shop bench. I always think the worst.

But to answer the OP question, I ride with back window out, sunroof open and windows down pretty much any day its not raining. Im kind of a nature freak.

Why not put the window in the holder in the midgate

Agreed! That area was created to hold the rear window :)

I owned a few Jeeps in my lifetime and would always run it naked...no doors, windows, or roof - loved it. With the AV, all windows down, sunroof opened, and rear window nicely tucked in the midgate is just as good :)

Maybe a bit off topic, but I have a friend who liked to take the doors off his jeep until one day his jeep made a right turn and he didn't...   make sure and buckle up if you do this!

We wheel all the time this way and buckling up is priority!!  (y)

Introduced my wife to driving with the windows down, sunroof open and back window out this evening.  Definitely the way to wheel on a gorgeous night like tonight.  (y) :B:

I do it as often as I can- It's only difficult for me because I have to take 2 car seats out to fold down the rear seat and nest the glass in the midgate. My truck doesn't have a sunroof, so it's the next best (or better) thing- reminds me of my 1988 Jimmy with the back off :) Next summer I will probably do it more :) fall is here, it's getting chilly in the morning.

I literally LOL'd at this. I once knew a guy who wrecked his '72 Charger because he armour-all'd the vinyl bench seat. He went around a sharp turn and slid right out from under the wheel. Needless to say he was just along for the ride after that. Pity, too - it was a really nice Charger

My Jeep was extremely high, I mean I ran 35's and still had lots of clearance under the fenders, I could've easily ran 45's with no problem. Me and a friend took a sharp turn with roof and doors off, luckily we were wearing our belts because the passenger side literally lifted off the ground, I was also lucky that my friend was over 325lbs, his weight kept it from tipping!

I take mine out everyday its more than 50 on the way home from school. However i did this a few days ago for the first time since fall and needless to say i was coughing a spitting out the window.. A cold michigan winter i got kinda lazy on cleaning the inside  LESSON LEARNED

That's what I call a Michigan spring interior cleanup, pop the window out remove the bed covers and drop the midgate then head for the freeway. (y)

since we're on the window topic...anyone else have the proble with the sunroof where if its the only window open you get a thumping pressure in your ears like a whoomp whoomp noise?

Yes it will do that at low/certain speeds due to the air coming over the cab causing a pressure issue. You just have to crack one of the rear windows and it will go away.

It's the best driving with the windows down, sunroof open, and back glass out. I've "aired" out the av out a few times removing the bed covers and dropping the tail gate! Just wish it wasn't such a pain to secure the back glass. Now that I'm a window down (front passenger window motor died), it's not as fun, but just for the passenger!

Maybe not if the Bride or New Best Girlfriend has long hair.  >:D

Ask me how I know!  :needhug:

I took mine out, since it's been really warm.  Haven't put it back on in over 4 weeks.  It's great.  keeps it cool inside.  Love the feel of cruising in the AV, with the sunroof open, the back window out, and all 4 windows right down.  Nice and open. No other trucks can you really get so much open!
