Dual EZ down

Has anyone done a dual install with the EZ down? I am assuming it installs on the left as all the pics I have seen the install is on the left side. I want to install 2 because it should half the load on the one strut and therefore 2 will last longer than 1. I put 2 door closers on my screen door of my house too; the door closes without twisting.

The right side has a slot in the cup where the tailgate rotates down and up that is used to remove the tailgate.

The tailgate is going to pop out of the cup and come off, but one member I know put a radiator hose clamp to prevent that.

If you add a ez lift tailgate torsion bar also it will be like this, I did mine in 2007 which makes it 13 years old so no need to worry about how long do they last. You have actually have to pull it open and it floats down.tailgatef.gif

As mentioned above, you need to secure the gate keeper cup to the hinge protrusion via a hose clamp or other method to run twin units, however, I had a single unit on my 05 when i bought it in 06 until sold in 2011, installed one on my 08' in 2011 and a put a single on my 13' about a week after i bought it in 2016 and have not had any signs of failure of fatigue. Running a single on the left hand side has been more than satisfactory for me for just shy of a decade. Putting two is overkill IMO but if you decide to do it, make sure you secure the passenger side or the gate will be pulled off by the strut
