Last month I went to a Hummer dealer in Memphis (a good friend just bought a new H2 from them and carried me through the "Hummercross" track behind the dealership). The "Hummer specialist" told me that GM was building a new Duramax plant and that once completed it would be able to meet demand and then it would become available in trucks like H2s and 3/4 ton GMs (yes including the Avies). As is typical with "factory trained specialist" the guy was about as knowledgable on trucks as my 7 year old. But on the off chance he is correct, has anyone else heard anything about a new "Duramax plant" under construction anywhere?
