WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO KEEP DUST OFF OF MY BLACK LANCH, BESIDES WASHING IT?

Quick Detail Daily.....use a QD spray and some MF towels....

Or

California Duster the car then follow up with a bit of QD and MF towel...

OR

Cover turck but no guarantee..

OR

LIVE with it

Sorry Dark colors stink for showing dust.

I use the duster. works pretty good.

what is QD? MF?

I Z6 sometimes.

When I had my Black trucks I spent a lot of quarters at the car wash just rinsing it off.

I used a duster on a Black car and I quit when I noticed some small scratches. Some will tell you they wont scratch because everyone at the car shows use them but most of them have a better paint job and higher quality paint than we get from the factory!

How about driving REALLY fast and letting it blow off?
Just kidding. The QD is probably the best way to go, and believe it or not, it doesn't take that much time. I do it a couple times a week in the a.m. with a cup of coffee. Usually the truck is done before the coffee is gone.

QD = quick detail

MF = Micro Fiber towel....super soft and absorbant.

QD is a spray meant to be sprayed on paint in small area then wiped up with the MF.....Zaino Z6 is a QD...MEguiars has one called Final inspection....

by doing this you keep the dirt and dust down between big washings....warn you probably want to do every day and avoid the cladding with the paint towel...but do use another towel for the cladding....

Heck I could write for days...........check out my other forum I hang at.... www.autopia.org guy sells a ebook on basic car detailing...very helpful...trust me.....I think the first 8 chapters are free now...

The Zaino guy mught be confused.............

You can QD you AVALANCHE as many times as you want with out worry to what Zaino layers you have.....but before apply another layer of Zaino I would wash though then QD qith Z6 fresh....

Meguiars is much less $$$$ and I keep bottle in side bin in rear for bug & bird bombs.....think of it as a very vewry mild cleaner with wax protectant....

most QD will have some carnuba in it except those like Zaino which have polymers.... Sonus, platinum, blackfire to name a few more....you can tell cause they cost more!!!!

I used to be able to go a whole month without washing truck but by just QDing daily....

Forget one day though and it could get too dirty to QD so then you have to wash normally....

I musta mis-heard him then.
I doubt he would say it wrong. he's very knowledgable.

Note to self: order more Z6. (I'm doing 2 cars$$$)

Meguairs Quik Detail spray and microfiber works wonders. After awhile it'll get to the point where you just need to rinse not wash the Av, then QD and wipe to a sparklin shine.

I bought a California Duster after seeing how good "The_Wifes_Av" looked every day at Wild West 2002. I still haven't had my Av clean enough during a stretch of dry weather to try it out yet though.

when do you wash the duster?

it says you can,but....

Do not cover Zaino with a wax like Meguiars hi tech or such.....the solvents will eventually weaken the bond zaino has with paint....yet I know people who do top with other stuff....

with QDs it is different since the solvent is mainly water which has no ill effects on Zaino.......

Z1 whould be used every 6-10 layers unless using ZFX...this is to ensure proper bondage of Zaino.....

I say this...for lighter colors use Z2 but for other colors stick with Z5.....forget all the optical clarity crap as Z2 and Z5 are dayum similar......What Z5 has is bit thicker and some fillers that will hide swirls.....which on darker paint is what you need.......

You may find the MF towels are grabby with ZAINO....I do...so sometimes I use my cotton wash clothes for QD sessions......

never wash the duster......unless it stops picking up stuff then buy a new one....if you drop it or it touches the ground throw it away and buy new one......See the duster has oils (Parafin wax) in the cloth to help make the dust stick to it.....if you wash then this stuff goes away and all you have is a crappy looking old mop that smooshes dust around................. ;D

I have a black AV and have subscribed to the "...let dust lie where it may..."

I wash it maybe once a month, 2 times if I need to show it off.

Come on, trucks are made to be dirty ;)

Wooof, Wooof....Lots of "spot free" rinses will take care of the dust. >:D

i thought that the quik detailer would be my answer to pollen. wrong! it just seem to attract more. and what's worse is the fact that you could see all the swirl marks from the application of the detailer. you could tell which way i movrd the towel across thepaint on every panel. the initial build up did not show this. i think i would rather have the pollen on the paint in a uniform manner if it has to be there at all. :p

Which QD are you using? ?The Z-6 does seem to reduce dust buildup on my black AV. ?Got more dust with the Meguire's

With that said. Would you recommend a complete wash with the Dawn again after a winter of using the touchless carwash? I know the one I use has wax that sprays on and I'm 100% sure it aint Zaino.

Nah ....I would wash with Zaino ..and then follow with Z1 or ZFX+Z2(Z5)= cool truck dude!!!! >:D

YEs this is an alternative to dusting...... >:D

I agree with Kim & ygmn! It's a truck (albeit a very kick-booty truck). It's supposed to get dirty sometimes.

In fact, if any vehicle of mine doesn't have at least a minor scratch or door ding in the first month, then I'm just not driving enough! ;D
