The unit is a DHD Power Cruiser. This was the smallest unit I could find. I wanted a unit to fit in the center console and this unit does not take up much room. The quality seems to be good and it comes with a remote. If you search the net, it is also sold under a few other names such as Pyle.

Install:
I had to cut a small notch out of the plastic console box in order for this to fit deep enough to close the lid. The wires are run through holes drilled into the bottom of this same box. The unit is held in place with a large patch of velcro.

Unit was bought from http://metricaudio.com/

Please email me with any questions.

Nice install KingVolcano but I do have some questions. Does your remote work when the lid is closed on the center console? Also, does the player have a last position memory?

KingVolcano --- I have the same unit in my Avy.
It's a great unit. I have mine were the cd holder use to be in the center concle under the power outlets. It works great. Mine came with a remote "eye" wich I ran up to just under the edge of the overhead concle so that I could operate it with the flap closed on the cd holder. Just my .02

Happy Mod'n and great job (y)

CA-AV,
Yes, the remote will work with the lid closed because I mounted the external eye next to the monitor. This way you can point the remote at the monitor, emulating watching television. I does have last memory. Check out the specs at the link provided in my original post.

VaWhite,
I was going to mount my unit there, but I opted to mount one of the monitors there for the back-up camera and DVD system. That would have been my first choice too.

I knew if I mounted it under the seat, it would get in the way or kicked or dirty from being that close to the floor.

KingVolcano ---- Yea that's why I didn't put it on the floor too. I thought of puting it were you did but at the time I only planed on haveing a monitor in the rear seat for the kids >:D so after I get new monitors I may have to move it to the same location as you. ;D Looks good though man good job. Nice install King! If you guys want to see a very small dvd player, check out the AV-HD1 @www.trc12volt.com. Very small!!

I found one made by Eclipse that I was able to stack with my Alpine HU in the dash. Works great! and has a 3 year warrenty ;D
In this pic, the install was not yet complete. I have had it over a year now, and not 1 single complaint.......I Love it!

have you checked this site out?

http://vizualogic.com/headrest_prod/model_availability.html

They have both visor and headrest models that match the interior.

My dash setup is slightly different concerning the climate controls; do you know if the unit integrates with the BOSE package?

Best buy has a dvd player for 40.00...small and fits under back seats in the middle...velcro on the bottom and never has moved....pic if ya want to see it just ask...

I've looked into them but Cash is an issue right now. This project has been put on hold :6: because I want more power so headers and a ram air hood has been put before it.
I'm not sure about the Bose system, you may want to talk to some of the Audio Guru's. I got this unit from Enkeiavalanche

Is that a Rhody Ram in your Avatar ???

Josh

the one I have would actually be to small for that spot, I think. I will post the dimensions of it tomorrow.

King Volcano, how does the sound work with your system. Do you have some type of wireless headsets. Does this option usually come with the players or the monitors?

thanks,
