E-Brake Cable to pad connector missing?

If this is already shown somewhere, apologies, I searched but didn’t find what I was looking for.

I have a 2003 Avalanche and my ebrakes have never worked since I’ve owned them. I’m addressing a scraping sound on the left rear wheel (pretty sure it’s the ebrake dust shroud rubbing) and decided to sort out my ebrakes while things are apart. But It seems my ebrake cable doesn’t attach to anything? I saw a video on a newer suburban and there was a sort of linkage that connected to a lever that was integral to the shoe adjuster….but I’ve just got nothin! And it’s the same on both rears….is that right? Or did someone just disconnect the ebrake cable and throw away some parts at some point? Appreciate any help or direction for what parts to search for here.

Someone disconnected the cable at some point.. Can likely install a new adjuster, shoe and parking brake hardware kit, but I'd want to open it up first to verify what all is missing.

I thought so! Thank you very much. Do you know where I could find a picture of how it’s supposed to look so I can make sure to get the correct parts? Or a parts diagrammaybe? Everything I’m finding looks different than my situation.

Here’s a look from the outside. The adjustment mechanism for the shoes is there, I just seem to be missing whatever connects that adjuster to the cable…but I have no idea what that part looks like or is called to even search for. 🤣

This video will show you how to do it. It's for the backing plate but covers the e-brake cable. NOTE: I think they put the brake shoe retaining clip in backwards. Other than that, it's right on.

Ah! Perfect! Thank you! That thing that the cable hooks into is what’s missing for me—I appreciate the help!
