Location
Philly area
We've discussed a bit in the National Meet thread below about having some regional and national meets. I'd like to see what kind of interest we have here for a Summer 2003 East Coast Avalanche Meet. The location should be centralized, since most people will be coming from as far away as Florida and Connecticut. We talked briefly about some suggested locations and itineraries.

Your thoughts?

If you guys set this up the Chief would fly out (seriously). I would want to have something like at least 30 or 50 Av's present to hop on a plane, and some one to ride shotgun with (or a dealer willing to loan me a demo ride).

This would be a great idea...as long as it's planned far in advanced so folks could plan a mini-vacation....it would be nice to get everyone together... :B:

Sounds like a good idea. If you all are thinking of NC, we'd be happy to host in the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area. Out at the coast would be good too. Maybe Wilmington, or the beautiful Outer Banks... What do you guys think?

Nc...would be a good idea...I'm familiar with the Wilmington/Jacksonville area....wouldn't be to hard still remembering how to get around....Myrtle Beach SC.is only like what 1 1/2 from Wilmington... :B:

I live in South Florida and I would go anywhere that I could get to within a days drive which is the North Carolina area via I-95, Atlanta, GA va I-75 and Pensacola/Mobile, AL via I-10.

My vote would be for the North Carolina area.

It would be cool to work out something with a hotel/motel and get rooms side by side and have a whole row of AV's parked out front. :)

depends on place and time, but I would certainly give it a shot. The sooner it is planed, the better it would be to arrange vacation time.

Love the idea. Would be coming from Central FL area, so NC or SC would be ideal.

Ok it's 14 hours from Buffalo to NC. Set it up for a long weekend and I will bring my camper. Great Idea.
August is nice weather for a long drive.

Will post this again...But I will come up for it and be willing to pick Chief up.

I say for the meeting place we do the Mountains in NC.

My $.02

:D I AM IN!! :D

I think the NC mountains would be fine...

:0: OR spend one day in Myrtle Beach, then next morning, drive up 17 N. to Wilmington, NC (1.5 hours) - then we can spend the next day out on Carolina Beach with the AVs!! Can drive on the sand, play, swim, fish, cookout, whatever!!

Then, next day, (optional) interested parties could go to Raleigh (2 hrs) or Smithfield / Selma area for some light trail riding, or continue on to the mountains (3.5 hrs from Raleigh)!

I think a poll to pick the dates would be a great idea!

LET'S DO IT!

Who's up to organizing this?

I would like to recommend that this be made a Spring or Fall meet instead of Summer. Summer on the east coast can be brutal between the heat, thunderstorms and hurricanes. While the meet may not be in an area prone to these things, many of us will be traveling from or through areas that are.

David

Come on if chief has to fly in to anywhere on the EAST COAST shouldnt we show him some east coast hospitality. This is what needs to pick him up at the airport... see atached file

I would vote for a Spring or Fall meet. ?Hotel and camping hookup rates might be lower. ?Fuel might also be a tad more reasonable too. ?Plus, I would think the crowds might not be as bad as during the summer. ?I think late April/early May or late September would be good. ?Our preference would be for late April/early May. ?That might get those of us in the frigid north an early taste of consistently warm weather. Plus, as a group, we don't have to wait as long to get together.

Maggie Valley and Pigeon Forge have been discussed as meet locations. ?We don't really have a strong preference. ?Pigeon Forge probably works better for people with kids. ?My wife and I are athletic outdoor types, so if anyone else has the same type focus, wherever the meet occurs, we'd be interested in hooking up with others for moderate hikes, enjoying wildlife, and maybe some mountain biking.

Sounds like fun to me! I think it would be great. Keep me posted!

i woudl like spring better....but i have track meets on almsot every weekend.....and im giogn to a road trip to texas in the begining of the summer as well just keep my posted and i will probally make it

Late summer or early fall works best for me as I just started a new job and won't get v.k. time till August.

I like Pigeon Forge. Lots to do and centrally located except for our extreme northern friends. I'll be coming from Atlanta. Only problem I would have is if you time it for the last 2 weeks in June and the 1st week of July. That's when I'm headed out to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone. I've never been and the trip is the reason I started looking for a new vehicle and stumbled across the AV. I sure hope it works out so I can do the regional meet. I've never done a car meet either. Lots of 1st with my AV

SPRING SOUNDS GREAT. OUTER BANKS SOUNDS GREAT. I LIVE IN VA, HAVE BEEN TO OUTER BANKS MANY TIMES. LOTS OF BEACH TO TRAVEL. LOTS TO SEA :cool:IF YOU NEED HELP I VOL. MY WIFE >:D

brand spanking new av owner of 3weeks  :B:

I love the outer banks love to surf fish, but I vote NC/Tenn mountains, travel friendly for all av owners N&S east coast & midwest. we can meet anytime of the year--what snow-have av will travel. there's Pigon Forge area with Cades Cove drive. in NC mnts- Blue Ridge Parkway a must any time of the year. Linvill caverns, blowing rock, Boone, valle crusis, much, much more.

just my 2cents.
