Easy Way To Mount A Billet Bowtie

Ok so I got my trenz bowtie today. Stuggled for awhile trying to fit my hand behind it and finally gave up. So here's the really easy way to mount it. The stock bowtie is just a piece of plastic glued to a mounting bracket. Slip a razor blade between the plastic and the bracket. Glue the bracket to the back of the billet one (I used a urethane adhesive). After it cures just snap it into place.

Haven't done it yet but I think the stock bowtie will just pop out if you carefully pray it off with a flat blade screwdriver.

I was surprised about how easy my bow tie came out.

I had to use both hands - one on each side to push in on the tabs - it took me a minute to get my fingers lined up and then it just popped right out.

For those with hands bigger than mine (see attached pic) (yes I am kidding) ;) - you could use two flat blades and get it done.

oops sorry for the misunderstanding, I didnt have any trouble removing the stock one. I just poped it out with a flat blade.

What I had trouble with was getting my hand behind the trenz to screw the nuts on from behind it. After I dropped my nutdriver (its still stuck next to the radiator). I occured to me to just reuse the bracket the stock bowtie is glued to with the trenz.

I just removed the 3 fasteners from the radiator hood and let it slide forward with the plastic chrome bar and reached my big hands in and tightened that baby on from behind. ?

Let me know how the adhesive holds up and post a picture of how flush it looks too. ?I know in my neighborhood I don't want anyone to use a screwdriver to remove my $40 billet bowtie. ?They have to work much harder than that ?;D

I took the whole grille off. If you take the three plasic screws off, the whole grille will snap off, the rest is just held on with clips.... I had to take mine off to install the new neons I put in my grill ;D

I don't care what the other members say about you. ?You are OK in my book ?;D

Fess up ... What color and when can I see some pictures?

ps - If we can get some others to come out of the closet about the neons maybe I can get a group discount from Liteglow.

Only problem I could possibly see with re-using the stock snap in mounting is this.....it is rather easy to pull off....so what is to keep someone from just walking up and pulling your Billet one off?

I just put mine on on Friday and was very careful about making sure I had a good tight fit as to deter anyone from trying to pry it off.

Just a heads up.....dont want anyone to swipe your nice new Billet Bowtie.

But it does look damn nice doesnt it?

I know what you mean White. I have already begun a trace on falchion's IP address in Georgia so I can get my hands on a backup one just in case >:D

ps - just kidding

ahhyeah - you have made a new AV buddy with Goo by using the word neon :)

I thought about them, but I was afraid I would short them out when the Av goes under water >:D

Goo

Did you see my post about my light switch?

Well guess what lights the switch controls?

Thats right Red Interior neons. I have 2 9" tubes up front and 2 20" tubes in the back.

;D

White,

I just read your light switch POSTs. Any pictures yet? Did you use the lighted rocker switches? That's what I used for my underbody kit and located it and future ones in my cup holder. My next switches are for my interior neons and strobes. I am going to relocate the current ones and just have one happy lighted rocker family. I posted a pic earlier.

Let me know when you are ready for the underbody neons for my .02

Yeah right ... more like a $1.25

Between yours and A.J.'s POSTs, my AV still hasn't stopped trembling with fear

Well I was a bit curious about the Lite Glow truck setup....where did you put all 6 tubes?

And where did you buy your from?

White ... that was too easy to get you to bite ;D

I am actually using the Liteglow PRO-Series car kit with 2 4 foot and 2 3 foot tubes. They put out 9000 volts of pure NEON color. I bought them locally when I couldn't find the truck kit. I have been happy so far and get lots of attention with them. I have been spending time over at Ben's NEON board and have decided I may add another kit or two >:D

I also found them at Autobarn for $175.

Here's my install pic ...

The warning I give everyone is to stay away from Streetglow's Blueline and Liteglow's import kits. They don't put out enough glow and I know you don't want the budget-ricer look. Streetglow makes a GOLD-Series which are also competition level.

That's my basic intro rap.

well, this was supposed to be a post about a bow tie, so I thought I would write a about that again then about some Neons. I bought mine from a local truck show, "Total Truck" I get all my stuff real cheap from him 'cause I'm a car dealer. My bowtie is from "The Bully Truck Accessories" part # BT900P It came with long small bolts and nuts, I threw in a few washers... it fits great and looks good too. My grill is all black so it stands out. Let me know how to post pics and I'll show you. I have a camera but my site is through angelfire so it wont post. Anyways, about the Neons... I just ordered Street Glows under body kit GOLD Series. They Claim 9600 Watts. I'm going to eventually go with two sets 'cause the AV is long enough. I have street glow neon license plate frame and two 15" in the grille. Two under the dash. Color? Blue. I would really like a wheelen set of Strobes for the headlights... ahhyeah
