Ebay - Flag Bowtie

Not that I've ever seen. The only one I have ever seen is the one I have (decal) and the one that JPCustoms (I believe) sells (handpainted).

This one is very nice but $55?

I like this one a lot.

I've sent an e-mail to find out when it will be available for the Avalanche.

When it becomes available, I'll get one and let everyone know what I think.

I have not seen that one either. i have the decal from JP customs and have had no problems with it trying to come undone(decal) but is had faded to an orange more than red.

I agree Zeeya. Mine is certainly not as brilliant as is once was. I don't even wear it much anymore since I painted my stock bowtie black. I only use it on special occasions - like over the Fourth of July weekend and while I was in Indy for the Brickyard 400.

You can get either the American Flag or the Texas Flag one from our Club Partner Joe W. for $42.

The one in Ebay definitely won't fit on the Avalanche.

I got one a couple of months ago from Joe W., and love it! It definitely gets a lot of compliments. I can't wait to add my flag Z-71 decals...

I was contemplating buying a backup bowtie - in case of excessive mud or something along those lines. ?;-) ?But then I decided we could probably make our own. ?How hard do you think it would be? ?We just need to find the right decal.

Personally, I don't like the way the flag waves in the post by PDXKevin. ?I like the one Joe makes much better!

If it's a GM genuine product like the picture shows, that could explain the cost! :)

But I don't like the waving one as much as the "normal" one either.

I took it mean the basic bowtie was genuine GM. Sombody probably bought the bowties from GM, then painted and is reselling them. That was my assumption.

I am not aware of bowties coming from GM already painted, and if they did, I wouldn't think that they would be hand painted. If the came from the factory, I would think that most likely they would be printed, or a decal under a plastic cover.

Also, keep this in mind: It can be called hand painted if there is any paint that was applied by hand. Even if a decal or stamp is used, if it is touched up by hand, that's enough to legally call it hand painted. Now, don't get me wrong, I have no reason to doubt any claims made on the eBay posting. I just thought I'd point something out that a lot of people might not know. Caveat emptor: If hand painted is truly important to you, make sure you verify the status before buying.

I emailed this guy and he said the Avalanche Bowties will be ready in 2 weeks, the first week of Sept 2002. I plan to buy one at that time and clear coat it one more time then it go on my AV.

MissAvalanche just got one the Texas one from Joe W. and she is very happy with hers. We have lots of happy members who have his USA flag. You don't have to wait weeks for his his and they are very well made and only $42. His contact info is on our Chevy Avalanche Fan Club Partners page.

Enjoy! ;D

He is probably reusing the packaging from GM. I am not sure if they would appreciate his selling photo.

I like the one we sell much better too.

No matter which hand-painted one you purchase, what is the best way to keep it from fading and still use it all the time?

Zaino or other paint protectant with UV inhibitors should help.....but nothing will prevent bug guts from eating away at it......

Maybe try some of that 3M scotch-Cal clear vinyl....called XPEL?...maybe that would help..

I really like this style also (matches my new avatar ;) )

My red stripes have also faded to a rose color ???, and I didn't realize how bad it was until I was parked side by side with Bowtie-Racing (Pete).

Maybe JoeW can look into this design as I would much rather get the item from him :0:

Feel free to email him and find out. Maybe if there is enough interest ...

I have the Joe W bowtie also and it's been on the AV for several months now and has not faded. Looks great. Support our sponsors.

As far as the gm product, looks like they are all using the blank bowtie bought through GM and doing the work on it. At the price we got them for through Jason tells you the blank bow tie from Gm does not cost that much. I am going to look for the GM box it came in and try to order 1 or 2 to practice on for a black one to go with AV.
The one i bought at the beginning, months ago when they had the group buy through Jason for under 30.00's ?was the one i got and it has faded, but held up as far as the bug guts and all. I superglued the corners and have had no problems with it trying to peel up, just faded some. South Louisiana heat does not help i guess.
