Today in the GM Edge a dealership newsletter they had an artical about Emergency Services Vehicles and I saw a pic of an AV that said Sheriff on the side.....so I read the artical and one of them is even in my area about 1 1/2 hour drive from here...here is the artical
From coast to coast, police officers and firefighters need vehicles that can handle almost anything. So when members of the Clintwood (VA.) Volunteer Rescue Squad and the Wallowa (OR) County Sheriff's Office went looking for new vehicles, they selected Chevrolet trucks.
Captain Ron Kendrick of th erescue squad said the department's Chevrolet Avalanche, purchased from Johnson Chevrolet-Oldsmobile-Buick-Pontiac in Clintwood, Va., is roomy, powerful and versatile.
"This durable, four-wheel-drive vehicle has served our every need. It's been used to provide first response by our advanced lift support personnel, to tow our mobile command unit, as a search and rescue vehicle and for any number of other services," said Kendrick.
The Wallowa County Sheriff's Office has had similar experiences in their Avalanche and in a Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD with four-wheel-drive, both purchased from Milligan Motors in Enterprise, OR.
"We at the dealership are extremely proud of these vehicles, as is the sheriff's department," said John Crowder, a service technician at Milligan Motors and a reserve deputy with the department. "The trucks are works of art, but they can also stand up to whatever our deputies throw at them."
I am only a 1 1/2 from Wallowa I think that is cool that they are using AV's the Sheriff here in La Grande has also shown some interest in an AV in the near future.
