Hi all,
I've ran into an unfortunate situation where my low mileage 2007 LTZ is dead due to a bad cam. I just rebuilt/replaced the air suspension on it and bought new rims and tires so I'm unfortunately about 11k into it. My hope is that the motor can be saved with just a cam/bearings but I might need a new block. I want to know if there are any Gen IV ls engines that came factory without DOD that I can swap in if need be.

The only one I know for sure came without DOD are the 4.8 engines which I may use. I just bought a house and can't justify keeping this truck after the repairs I know it needs. I need to get it running so I can get a decent dollar for it. I would appreciate it very much if anyone could tell me if there's a gen IV ls engine that came factory without DOD that will drop in.

Thanks again

Because I don't know if the motor is worth saving. I know the cam bearings are wiped so the motor has to come out. I'm thinking of having a 6.0 swapped in since they didn't have DOD afaik and that would make it a rare truck. My motor has low compression on the entire passenger side which doesn't bode well for saving the block

Anybody done this before? Kind of in a bind here. Been a long time Ford guy so don't know anything about LS motors

The 6.0 should work just fine. I am sure a lot of people have done it. The 6.0 and the 5.3 use the same block, I believe. So everything should just bolt on. You would just need your ECU tuned with the new displacement.
