Has anyone done an engine oil flush yet? If so what did you use? I've heard of using 1 qt of transmission fluid in the oil and the draining it. Any good? I was thinking about using berrymans for the flush. Any suggestions?

I doubt an 03 would be so dirty as to need a flush. In my opinion, they strip the bearings of protection and do more harm than good. Stick with regular oil changes, prefarably with synthetic oil, and forget about that junk.

As a former long-time owner of a successful quick lube, I can tell you from experience that there are very few circumstances where an oil system flush is useful...it can cause problems, too. If your really looking to clean things out, do a regular oil change, run 500 miles, let the new oil clean things out, then change it again...that'll take care of anything you want to clean out and won't harm a thing..

I agree. Unless you've run way over the recommended oil change interval there's no need and they usually do more harm than good. The transmission fluid is the best way to do this if its needed, but I'd much prefer a oil change, then another one after 500 miles then 1,500 then back to 3,000.

Putting anything other than API certified motor oil into your engine might cause serious problems and is not recommend

i would not use anything stromger than Marvel Mystery oil if you decide to it. you can use it in the crankcase or in the fuel tank to clean up things a little. it is not kerosene based so you will not suffer from leaking gaskets caused from the stronger flushes.
like the other guys mentioned... you may not need to do this just yet if you keep the oil changed at the recommended intervals.

No flush... run fast, far away from anyone who tells you this is a good idea.
The 500 mile oil change is a good way to deal with the motor if you extended oil change intervals previously.

W-a-a-ay back when VW beetles were still on sale, one of my best friends was a VW mechanic. He had a profitable sideline going, buying older bugs that were in good condition, but 'running rough' for a low price, and then using them himself for about about a month, doing nothing but change the oil every day (at work, for free  ). By the end of the month they were running like a sewing machine and he would sell them at a significant profit, buy another and.....
