I had a bad overspray of white on my black Avalanche. Also had a generous amount of road oil overspray from a jerk in oil sprayer truck.

Called Zainos. Ordered the clay bar and the rest of the stuff.

Wow.

I was very skeptical about the clay bar. But did it ever work great!!! :) If you follow the directions to the letter, it will take off oil spots, overspray and other junk easily. I was very impressed.

The polish and show spray worked awesome too. What a great product.

Took about an hour to clay bar the whole truck. It was definitely worth it. It is black again!!!

How much did all your cleaning products run you? I'm picking mine up this weekend and plan on doing the works to it the next weekend. I heard Zanio leaves the best shine. Did you polish it by hand or use an orbital buffer?

Glad to hear Trophy!!!

Zaino should be applied by hand to get the coats real thin. The product will not remove swirls of any kind. The Z5 claims to hide them but I find it hides only very minor swirls.

As with any product proper preparation is the key to a great look.

Oh Trophy,

Did you get the leather in a Bottle? I love that the best.

What about the tire protectant?

Ah heck what did you get???

i take it you guys are ordering you Zaino products? ?is it not available in local auto parts stores?

thanks...

oh, and which products will work to give the Av the mirror like finish?

I'm picking my Av up this weekend and would love to get some tips on which are the "must have products" from Zaino to keep the Av shiney and looking new. All the way from their car wash soaps to polishes, clay bars and anything for the rims and tire dressing.
If this stuff works as well as everyone has stated I'll be dropping a few bills and up grade all my cleaning supplies. ;)

for the AVY get the following if money is no object:

Z2
Z5
Z6
Z7
Z9
Z10
Z12
Z16
ZFX

Optional is their claybar Z18 but you can find Mother's locally at your Pep boys.

If you want to get off a little cheaper the essentials would be:

1 bottle of Z5
2 bottles of Z6
2 bottles of Z7
1 package of ZFX

And if you have the leather seats get the Z10

One bottle of the Z5 will last you a long time. ?I can put 3 coats on my Av with less than an ounce.

After each coat of Z5 you want to go around and spray with Z6 so you go through Z6 a little faster, and it helps to spray with Z6 after you wash the car.

The Z7 car wash is excellent, very concentrated, and does a wonderful job. ?

I put the ZFX on the essentials list because if you don't get the ZFX, you have to get the Z1 polish lock. ?I feel you are better off with the ZFX because you no longer need the Z1 then, and you can put three coats of Z5 on your vehicle in a few hours rather than a few days.

Those items should keep you stocked for quite some time, probably about a year.

Like ygmn said you don't necessarilly have to get the Zaino claybar, but it is a quality bar, so if you want to go for it. ?The package actually contains 2 clay bars if you are price comparing.

Oh, and no you can't go to your local auto supply shop and purchase Zaino. It is available via Zaino directly or Zaino distributors. If you want to phyically pick the stuff up, just call Sal at Zaino Bros, and ask who your local distributor is, he will let you know who to call.

ZFX does make it shine a bit more as told to me by different friends and they say it has attracts dust less.

THe car wash is excellent and the best I have used.

The leather in a bottle is great and I use it on all leather, plastic, & vinyl in my truck.

Call or email any questions to Zaino they answer promptly.

I have bought a few Zaino products that I will use as soon as the weather turns warmer around here. I have seen a few folks here reference the claybar from Zaino. My questions, 1) why should I have one and 2) what does it do that makes it a must have accessory?

Thanks - Jamie

jstrickl,

You wouldn't believe what a great job the clay bar does. It removes all the junk (sap, overspray, bug gook, etc) that you think you're getting off with soap and water. It makes the truck shine like a new penny.

It took about an hour and a half to do the whole truck, but boy was it worth it.

The clay bar (read Any claybar) will remove paint contaminates by shearing them out of the paint.

Contaminates are:
Rail dust
Brake dust
Industrial fallout
Paint overspray
Bug Skeletons.

Follow directions from whom evers clay bar you choose.

I prefer Clay Magic as it is only $10 at autozone and comes with a QD lubricant spray plus a nice storage case.

A tip is to break off small pieces and clay using those then throw these away so as not to scratch paint with any contaminates you have picked up.

Washed my Av last night and noticed very tiny specs of tree sap or whatever on the paint...hardly noticable when I run my hand across the finish but over time I am sure the "build up" will be. Question is....does a clay bar leave behind tiny scratches that will need to be polished out before I wax?? I have very few swirl marks or light scratches and want to keep it that way. Secondly has anyone used Race Glaze? The detailers at the dealership use it and "claim" it to be A1. Thoughts?

I've used only the Zaino clay.Just follow directions.Use a lubricant.Discard if you drop it(may want to tear off pieces instead of kneading the whole bar).

Do a small, inconspicuous area if you're concerned. You'll be AMAZED!!

Clay will not scratch but any contaminates it picks up may scratch so be careful and knead often.

Race Glaze I believe if in the yellowish cream colored bottle is OK stuff but does not last through many washings or rain storms as it is just oils and fillers to hide swirls. Glazes are meant to cover imperfections prior to a carnuba wax for show cars. They do not last very long at all like maybe a week in the summer.

I use the Zaino clay also,,they recommend that yo use the Zaino car soap in a spray bottle as a clay lubricant.
I am pleased with the results.

;DI have the black and have been using clay magic on it as when i do have to go into the office to catch up on paper work it is in the port of new iberia louisianna and they build rigs and boats here so there is alway paint overspray getting on everyones vehicles. The company i work with gets everybody a box of the clay magic about every 4 months and it works great. comes out slicker than a babies --- and does not leave any scratches, but heed what ygmn said. You must change out the clay as the contaminates build up and that is what scratches the paint not the clay.
break pieces off and knead into about 3 inch squares and do a few sections and change it out. i use on clean piece on hood and change out. it works on paint overspray.

Zaino all the way.

I just traded off my 2001 vette for a 2002 AV. The Z-18 (Clay Bar) works very well just remember to spray the paint with a mixture of the car Zaino car wash and water in a spray bottle. Once you are done your paint will be as smooth as a babys butt.

Just remember to follow the directions and you wont have any problems at all

If you dont know a local rep you can call the phone number and they will give you a contact or you can order direct

I second the slicker than a baby's butt!

The clay bar works great and the entire line of Zaino products are as good as it gets!

Another option to lubricate the surface when using the clay bar is to mix up some Liquid Dawn and water in a spray bottle. The dawn will also help to remove any wax build up from car wash soaps and waxes if you use car washes. Nice CLEAN surface preped and ready for Zaino Polish...

After you clay, do you have to re apply Z1 again and then the Z5 or Z2 process again?

Also, Zaino states to re aply Z1 every 6 months. Do you re strip the truck with Dawn and then reapply?

I'm ready to clay because of water spots but dont want to do more thank needs to with the Zaino Products.

Dawn just removes oils, carnuba based waxes, bug guts and the like. Claying takes care of surface contaminants. I Dawn again so the car is squeeky clean.
Then Z-1 and Z-2 or Z-5 and then Z-6.
If you buy the new ZFX you no longer have to Z-1.
Outside vehicles need (or daily drivers) Z-1 or ZFX enhanced ZEE every 6 months or so.
Hope this helps!
Isn't Zaino great???
