EVERYTHING Extend camping towing Mirror

Last weekend I installed camping/tow mirrors purchased through Chevy.  They are the manually operated type.  When pushed in, they stick out approximately 3 inches further than my originally installed power/heated mirrors.  They manually extend another almost 5 inches, so they should be adequate for my new trailer we are picking up this weekend.  They look good and were very easy to install (took me about 30 minutes).  Cost me about $200 (U.S.) to buy.  Looked at a pair of the slide-on type to go over my original ones, but the ones I looked at looked a little too cheap and insecure.  Sorry, I didn't take any pics of the operation.  Still can if anyone is interested.

Cheers

On my 3/4 ton 2500 I've got a set of manual extending, electric, heated camper mirrors that are much larger than others I've seen.  They have a large electric adjustable mirror on the top 75% and a small "blind spot" mirror that is manually adjustable on the bottom 25%.  They are very slick.  I trailered with them the first time yesterday and the visibility is incredible.

I bought an 18 foot Pioneer Spirit Camp trailer and went looking for low cost superb mirrors.  Got one at State trailer supply for 31.99 CIPA extensions. They did not have in stock the passsenger side so I went to Terry's RV and they gave me State Trailers supply price.  Great mirrors work great no Vibe and can see behind me.  A breeze to put on and to take off.  I recommend them for everyone who has stock mirrors.  Thanks for the tread helped me out bunches.

Here are two pics of the CIPA slip on mirrors. One of what they look like, and one of what you can see with a 96" wide trailer. Hope this helps some of you. They work great and are easy to get on and off.

I used these on my 05 and they worked great.... so I picked up a set to use on the 07... They are available locally for 60.00... I actually think they fit a bit better than the earlier model.... I wish there was a better way to handle the "loose" piece... I'm wary of loosing it...but  it functions fine!

I'm getting my new towing mirrors installed tomorrow  woo hoo!!

here are some pic of my new towing mirrors. The only downfall was I had to remove my old wind deflectors, because the were in the way of the new mirrors........which means I can now order the ones from weather tech.... (y)

I added the manual extend towing mirrors off of 2002 Silverado 2500HD to my 2002 Z71 Avalanche for towing our deck boat and my dual axle tractor that I haul many things including my JD 2305 SCUT.

The old Driver side mirror started leaking fluid and this is what it looked like after it dried up and the passenger side mirror was the casualty of a parking lot mishap that no one stopped to leave a note.

Since I really liked the mirrors on my Dad's 2010 Duramax I started researching adding those to my truck.  I found them at
www.discountautomirrors.com
and they were only $10 more than the standard mirrors with heat and power.  I had to give up the autodimming feature (no big loss there) and the puddle lights, but well worth it.  So for I am very happy and can get rid of the slip on mirrors I bought earlier this year.  They look awesome and it was a quick 20 minute installation that the only thing you have to be careful about is dropping the nuts when removing and installing.

They look great DaleJR88Fan!  Thanks for the link, the ones I was finding were twice that price.  Guess I can get them sooner than I was thinking.

So has anybody found a set of towing mirrors that will work on a 2003 1500 Z71?  it seams like most say they will not work on the trucks with the "memory" or reverse option.

I would like to find a set that is power, heated & has the turn signals on them.

Thanks for the help.

Thanks  :E:

It looks like the expensive ones are the only option for the 03 with memory & reverse.  Too bad because I kind of like the looks of the newer OEM ones but I still want them to be power & heated.

A question that may have already been answered that I can't find.....

I don't use the memory or reverse feature on my Avi.  Since I don't use these features can I just use any mirror that fits onto the 2003 OR is the connector different so they won't work.  All I want to work is the Power glass, Heat & maybe have the turn signals. (if I buy that option)  Will any of the power mirrors that fit a 2003 work for me then?

Thanks for the help!!

I just installed this set of towing mirrors today.  They are powered and heated (manual extend).  They look just like the Kool Vue and are being sold on Ebay by "racing_guys" for $199/pr + $15 shipping.  Each side took about 5 minutes to remove and install.

Wow, those are nice.  Those are very close to what I had on my Excursion, and you could see everything behind you, and were wonderful for towing.  They were worth their weight in gold.

Since I just got my Avalanche, I dont think I could justify getting these right away with the Boss. :E:

Did it literally take you only 5 minutes to install?

I went thru this whole thread and didn't see anyone tried these convex clip-ons:
http://www.campingworld.com/shopping/item/auxiliary-mirror/17255

Five minutes is pretty close.  The process is really easy.
1.  Pop off the inside triangular panel
2.  Pull out the piece of insulation foam
3.  Unplug the power/control connector
4.  Remove the three nuts.  Make sure you don't drop them down inside the door
5.  The original mirror pulls straight out.  The three studs are part of the mirror housing
Reverse the process to install the new mirror.

We pull a 30' travel trailer with our Avy and have used the clip-on mirrors from Camping World.  These are MUCH better.

Congrats on getting an Avalanche!  (y)

Thanks much for the info, I see these in my future.. :D

This was not the process on my 2005 Avalanche 2500.  There is no electrical connector behind the triangular plastic panel; the mirror is connected directly to the door module which is on the arm rest (where the window and door lock switches are located).  I had to remove the door panels to install my new mirrors.  Not a difficult process, but be prepared to do it.

I just installed these mirrors last weekend, except I got the ones with an integrated turn signal like the original ones on the truck.  The visibility is so much better there is really no comparison, but I am very disappointed with how much the mirror glass vibrates.  The passenger side actually shakes more than merely vibrates at highway speeds.  The price was excellent (I paid $280 on ebay for power, heated w/ signal) but I am debating whether to return them.  They vibrate/shake a LOT.

Also, see my above post about how they took more than 5 minutes on my Avalanche because I had to remove the door panels.

Any chance anyone has been able to find a source for these camper mirrors that power fold ?

I had a set for my '07 but quickly realized I used the power fold more than I thought. I have done lots of searching and I know I'm probably out of luck on this, but I thought I would see if anyone knows of something I have not found yet ?

I would like to stick to the OE style mirror.

Bump for the power folding mirrors on 07+ Avalanche... I have seen the new 2500HD mirrors and that have power folding feature and they look like they could be a direct fit but I can't find the part number anywhere

I find it interesting and odd that the aftermarket has not come out with a power fold set. When I google the topic of power fold tow mirrors there is so many people on all kinds of various GM fourms that say " I would love a set, and will buy if someone has these "

I even emailed a company because there description led me to believe theirs was a power fold and the reply I got was " no ours do not power fold, the OEM ones don't even power fold "

From what I understand the window stickers on the new HD's say power fold but it's if it had the smaller mirrors on it...... Or something like that, have read a few times where people have been confused about that. However I have not confirmed myself by looking at a new truck I did inquire about them with my parts manager and he said they are asked about them all the time but there is no such OEM part
