EVERYTHING Extend camping towing Mirror

Put them on last night.  Took about 5 minutes per side.  I didn't even bother pulling into the garage.  I got mine from ebay for $169 shipped.  They even came with new nuts.  That was good because I started to get careless and dropped the last one into the door  :beating:

Driver side is extended.

I finally got the blind spot mirrors adjusted right, and these are great.  I have a pretty long tow in a few months, and these along with the airbags I have to install should make it a lot more enjoyable.

Looks great!  Your green cladded makes me miss mine  :(
Be careful at drive thrus with those mirrors, i almost knocked a McD's sliding window off once..

A little "mad money" came my way so it was a good time to upgrade the mirrors to towing mirrors:

These are aftermarket FIT system mirrors purchased on Amazon.com $309 for the pair. Heated, electric adjustable with turn signal. I will miss the auto dimming my old set had and I had to add an LED puddle light.

The 12 volt Prewired Superfulx 4 chip LED floodlights were purchased from http://www.oznium.com . I had to salvage two wires with terminal ends and add them to the new mirrors. Drilling one 3/8" hole in the underside of the mirror mount and glued in place. They work as well or better than the stock puddle lights.

Nice and  bright for such a small looking bulb.  (y)
Indeed they are. LED is cool stuff. These are "four chip" LED floods. I bought four just in case I needed two on each side. After trying the first one, I think I'm good :) I might mount the others as rock lights up front under the fender.

Did you wire them to the factory puddle light circuits so they work like the stock mirrors did?

I might have to consider this, as I do miss that feature.

Yes, exactly right. I freed the terminals from the stock connectors and clipped the wires a few inches from the stock puddle lights. I then inserted them into the tow mirror connectors in the same positions , soldered them to the LED leads and heat shrink't the splice.

Just like factory. I hit the unlock on the remote , or open the door and they come on. Works great!

Does your mirror glass vibrate/shake?  Every time I look at mine I get angry because the mirror glass is shaking.  The mirror housings are snugged down tight and don't move but the shaking/vibrating  glass looks really cheap; the passenger side being the worst. I dunno how to pull out the glass to check for loose components; any ideas?

I am pleased with mine. I can not say it is rock solid, but it is every bit as good or better than stock. I payed close attention to two fleet vehicles and my own. Mine are better than those.

I suspect access to the inner workings will require removal of the glass. That is not likely going to result in the glass being in condition to be replaced. "Break glass for access!"

I wish that I had a magic answer for you. I'll tell you what I might try though. Adjust them where you want them. I have some 1/2" thick neoprene foam. I would try cutting a couple small squares to wedge between the mirror and housing.

The cheap foam ear plugs might work for that.

Mine do shake a little going down the highway, but after trying to use the mirrors on my motorcycle, the slight vibration doesn't bother me.

I used the mirrors for towing for the first time this weekend.  3 hours each way, and am very happy I got them.  I actually don't extend them while towing.  If I had an enclosed car hauler or RV I'm sure I would, but with my open car hauler I can see just fine.

If I extend my mirrors the glass shakes so badly the mirrors are useless; the glass looks like it's going to fall off.  Anytime I pass a GM truck with the OEM tow mirrors I look at their glass and it is steady.  Does anyone know if the OEM tow mirrors fit our trucks (mounting and electrical)?  I know they're more expensive than these aftermarket ones but at this point I am willing to pay for a quality piece (and I love the visibility provided by this style mirror).

EDIT: I think the 2006-2007 Silverado Classic had this style tow mirror; does that mean it will plug-and-play?

I added the manual extend towing mirrors off of 2002 Silverado 2500HD to my 2002 Z71 Avalanche for towing our deck boat and my dual axle tractor that I haul many things including my JD 2305 SCUT.

Can anyone confirm that the '02 Silverado extended tow mirrors will bolt right onto the '02 Avalanche? If this is the case, I should be able to pick up a pair at a local junk yard for cheap. The Kool-Vue mirrors DaleJRFan purchased in '10 are now $161 each!

Give them a call before you waste too much time. They know what OEM cost and sell them used for way more than you can buy new aftermarket. "Ben 'dair , dun-dat".

They will.  I got mine on ebay $169 for the pair.
