just ordered this part today. any ideas :0: to mount it using existing AV sail panels. did not want to really use EXT panels because i did not want to just paint the center panel, nor did i want to buy the left and right side. any input on this topic would be greatly appreciated. sorry if i'm bringing up old issues. :B:

Here is a side by side photo for reference from my spoiler topic.

Looks like you have some work ahead of you for this MOD. ?

Good Luck.

where did you get the part? and how much was it.

Looks like a major mod

blackav2002 i ordered it from a local dealer (chevy). it listed for $210. i think i might order a spare AV panel just in case i get a little shakey with the dremel. ;D

Did you order just the light or the long pannel peice that goes across as well? I would think that the Cadi peice would bolt up to the support frame underneith just like the AV. It would have the smooth texture, but it should work. Of coarse I haven't jumped on the back of an EXT to get a close up look, but I still think that the peices would interchange.

jryther i will keep you well informed of how hard or easy this mod will be. luckily i have some experience with automobile mechanics. however, this is probably not going to help me very much in modding that panel to mount that light. ;D

well black_magic, i jumped up on the back of the EXT today at a local dealership and noticed that the Cadi panel was interchangeable. i just do not think that a painted panel in the middle would look right. and getting all the panels painted blue to match my AV would be nice, but that is cutting into my CORSA exhaust money. btw i ordered just the light.

Well, I hope everything works out great, but if it doesn't; you now have a plan B. ;) In any case, please post pics. I would be interested in this as well.

I was thinking of converting all teh sail panels to the caddy panels. why dont you see if you can buy the whole panel assembly and take it from there much easier than using a dremmel:)

i would buy the light & panel
take it to an autobody shop, and let them try to texture paint it gray to match.it will bolt right on.
unless your retired,it will be less money to buy all the ext panels than to try and mod the avalanche panel to fit that light.

i hope it works out

still waiting on the light to come in guys. i may just order the other Cadi panels. been thinking about it (too much idle time on my hands).
here are the part numbers if anyone is interested:

two inner panels - 88944310 & 88944311

two outer panels - 88944312 & 88944313

middle bar - 88944318 (old #) & 88979978 (new)

stop lamp - 15098920

these are the Cadi part numbers. the parts guy told me that Cadi now has two part numbers for the middle panel/bar. he called to get a price but the person had to look it up and call back. well, they never called while i was standing there. so i looked up the numbers on gmpartsdirect.com. i got a price for the old and new number.

I wonder what ?the part numbers are for the two side compartments ? and the rest of the upper sail cladding to convert to an av

blackav2002, if you look at goo929's post, you will see the left panels (in/out), the upper middle panels, and the right panels (in/out). the numbers i gave are for each one of these Cadi panels. now as for the side compartments, i do not have the numbers. i can easily get them tommorow though.

I checked this out a while back and according to the parts guy I spoke with. you cannot order JUST the "doors" for the side compartments... you have to order the whole assembly...doors, latches, locks, the bin itselft, etc. I can't remember the price, but it was high enough to change my mind.

thank's black_magic for that info. i think you just made up my mind for me. i had no idea you had to get all that stuff. definitely not worth the money or trouble to me.

well guys i think i may have added the EXT brake light a little premature on my profile. i got it in today. thought it would be a not so hard mod. however, i took off the Av's middle sail panel to find that there is no place to bolt the the light bar. my only guess is that either the upper or lower has the mounts for the light to attach to.
so, it's back to the dealer tomorrow to order the dang other parts.$$$$$ :7:
i'll keep you posted on my progress. i may have to wait until the 1st on this one boy's. my wife does not know about the light. it may be hard to hide the panels, and then get them painted to. ;D

Its the never ending mod. I like the idea. Get some pics of the install process and how much it costs. I would probably do that one. Thank you for being the pioneer on this project.

well, guys i gave up! went back to the dealer today to see what else i needed to mount this EXT third brake light. we figured out that i would indeed need the Cadi middle sail panel. it actually was right there in our faces from the beginning.
the parts computer at the dealer offers a part number for the light, and also the light assembly. the light assembly being the middle panels that it affixes to. this of course was not cheap. i think it was in the neighborhood of $369 if i remember correctly. and i still have to get it painted. :8:
now for the good news. my parts guy told me today they just got in info and a price list from Corsa today. they are now an authorized seller of the exhaust. so he told me to give him the EXT light back to put towards the purchase of the exhaust. hopefully i should have it in about two weeks. >:D >:D >:D
i love my parts guy.

i guess i'll take over from here... so what you guys want is a avalanche with a caddy third brake light? sure no prob since my av doesn't have a rear end i'll be doing just that.... third brake light, new panels, and gee lets throw in a new tail gate. so now what i need is those little numbers that go in a row that tell the boss what part i need... so who here has every number for every part thats on the rear sail panel area for a caddy? i mean the 3 panels... drains everything. and then we will get started. >:D

yeah, but see i'm doing this mod right now.... i all ready have the old chevy panels off... and ?need the part numbers for the caddy ones so i can get them on.

Red, I think you best bet is going to be going to the Caddy dealers parts counter and being there when you order. That way you can see the exploded diagram and i.d. any parts that are used in the Caddy and not the Avalanche. Also, if the ordering dealer supplies the p/n's and there is a problem, it's his problem. If you give him a list of part numbers you want, and something is wrong, at a minimum, he will charge you a restocking fee. Many places will not even restock special order parts, particularly if they are a slow mover.

he is absolutely right BigRed. i am almost ready to make that move on the parts. one more payday and i will be ready. >:D

went to the dealer the other day to get the prices for the stuff i need. i was told to expect to pay about $750 bucks for the mod. this is everything except the inside EXT sail panels and paint. i figured i would leave the AV's grey sail panels on the inside to keep the grey contrast and save a little money. as you can see it was just a little!
so, i have a question. does anyone think i can successfully mod the existing panels to mount the light? i hope so, because i am sure gonna try. i figure if i mess it up i can buy another center panel cheaper than the original mod idea i had. :B:
