Extended Warranties???

I'm contemplating buying an extended warranty for my new Avalanche. I very (very) rarely buy a new vehicle, drive them until the wheels fall off, and then get another.

The complexity of this vehicle amazes me.

The dealer wanted $1688 for a 5 yr/100K warranty. I'm shopping around now.

Anybody have any feedback or know of an especially good program?

I am typically in the same boat - didn't keep my '01 Sierra three years even though I bought a 7/100 warranty.

Felt it would be prudent to buy one for my '04 AV purchase. Dealer only sold the GM extended warranty. I bought what I thought was the most bang for the buck - GM's best (supposedly) coverage for 6/90 for $2,000.00. I have 60 days to cancel for a full refund, so I'll be investigating this further.

The dealer couldn't answer how much I would be refunded, or whether a refund would be prorated etc. in the event I sold the truck in the furture and didn't want include the warranty with the sale. Extended warranties make for a good selling advantage (I think...... I'll find out with the Sierra) but sometimes buyers don't want to pay extra for them, so it's good to know where you stand as far as refunds go, know what I mean?

Who was the warranty with for the price you were quoted? Price seems right...

I decided to wait until near the end of the 3 yr/36000 warranty before buying an extended warranty. There are quite a few messages on this board concerning warranties.

The best way to find info is to enter Extended Warranties or Extended Warranty into the Search application (red button above). You will get about 50 messages with either.
