I am really scared to deathto drive the truck right now. It is idling around 55-65psi and at 2000 rpms just crusiing on the high way it sits at 75psi . If i mosh on it it pegs +80 psi with ease .

I have not done anything differant to the truck . I " did " have a KN drop in ( pulled it , wondering if my MAFS is jacked up now ) and a flowmaster ehast but that is it .

My old truck is running a stock airfilter and a flowmaster 50 and runs WELL below what i am getting .

PLUS it seems that I am out of oil about every 2500 miles with NO leakage under or around the engine . But I have noticed considerable smoke on first morning start up . Using Pens SUV truck Synth Blend .

HELP !!!
 
well I just read a TSB about high oil consump and a PVC Valve but still dont understand the oil pressure and if the two my be linked .

Just wondering if I am the only person facing this prob.
 
Mine runs high normally....versus older vehicles I have owned....

Mine at idle (running Mobil 1 5w-30) is at 40psi according to the gauge, on the road around 60psi.
 
Well they replaced the PVC valve , changed the oil to a non synth and put a fac tory oil filter in as well and appears the oil pressures are normal compared to other 02 on the lot . ( Tested in the engine and on the guage . )

They are going to do a oil consumption test over the next 3000 miles and if the oil loss is above normal then they will be able to go into the engine per the warranty .

I am right near 15k so they are also wanting to do the shcd maintance but will wait until the next oil change .
 
I too have noticed an alarming rate of oil consumption. (More than two quarts in under 5k miles). After the next oil change, a check 3,041 miles later and over a quart low again. When I questioned my dealer, he said this was "normal" oil consumption. I thought this was BS since he was complaining about my lift kit at the same time (6" and oversize tires). I called the GM 800 number and asked them what "normal" consumption was and I was told "one quart per 2K miles" was normal.

I too am now participating in the 3k mile consumtion test with the dealer and if they determine the consumption to be excessive, (which I doubt they will), then they may be willing to do something.
