Hi folks,
Just wanted to provide info and photos for those of you who feel they need help with the weight of the tailgate when lowering.
There has been some discussion on another thread about whether or not the system for a 1999 -06 Silverado would work on an AV.
I want to say that today I bought one for the Silverado - Part #43100 (DeeZee number)  from a local Pep Boys for $49.99.
It is slightly different from the DeeZee website in design but fits great! It will take about 20 -30 minutes to install if you use a 1/2 inch socket, some tape to put on AV lower quarter panel under tail light (To prevent scratching by wrench) and maybe a flat blade screwdriver and hammer.
Another member stated he had a cladded AV and had to grind off the end of a bolt so it would clear but on the WBH it has clearance. (Not much though)

The lower end on the tailgate is where I used a screwdriver to create space between the tailgate and the metal tailgate bracket so I could insert the new bracket between the two, then used the hammer to move the bracket in place and once bolted in gave the lower mount a tap into the tailgate to make sure the lower bolt clears the quarter panel under the tail light.

I have one also works great for me, just open the tailgate and let it float down, However with the cladded AVs there is a little rub, so one member straighten out the bracket in the first picture and no more rubbing.

Nice mod

These don't help with the weight when lifting the tailgate do they?  Maybe  a combination of this AND that torsion bar is what is needed!

No not at all, as I matter of fact it's a little harder lifting because of the strut

The 07's I think have a spring assist built into the hinge, I am talking about these.......

Butch

I agree, they are nice, I put mine on this evening and I certainly hope no one asks me to put one on their AV, they are a pain in the you know what to put on, but after you get it manuevered around and on, SWEEEEEEEEEEETTTTT!!!  Yes Butch I now have a scratch on mine as well, lol., grrrrrrrrr

Just a comment on the tail gate assist. I purchased the  DZ43101 directly from DEEZEE and installed it on my 2013 AV Black Diamond in about 15 minutes. It works great and does not create any up or down problems. The cost was $30.00 delivered. Also Amazon has it on their site.
