Saw an ad in the back of my BASS magazine for the new F150. They claim that their engineers discovered the advantages of placing the rear shocks on the outside of the frame and the F150 is the ONLY truck to do this.

EXCUSE ME,

The Avalanche also places the rear shocks outside the frame and has been since they came out. I guess F**ds better idea is to steal ideas.

Ah ha  So, they apparently "discovered" the idea while snooping around under an Avalanche, and asking GM techs what were the advantages

:B: Welcome to the club :B:

Their marketing weasels (as a former marketing weasel) will argue that the Avalanche is not a "truck" as it is based on the Tahoe/Burb - and not the Silverado. Never mind that everyone thinks of it as a truck.

Ya - Ford has gotten bad in the past 3 to 5 years on skirting the truth on ad claims...

Oh, come on now. Just because the first run of ads for the new F-150, touting "the quietest cab" and showing the truck cruising down a bumpy road, bouncing around all while the speedo read a solid ZERO mph ;) you think Ford is misleading with advertising?

F@RD will sink or swim with the new F-150. They rely on that vehicle more than anything else to survive. We shall see how they do.....

I was wondering if I saw that correctly. :3: I always look at other things in commercials and thought the speedo was at or near 0 in that commercial. Couldn't confirm, tho.

On a not-so-good-note for GM though, have you noticed in a GMC truck commercial, where the F-150 is chasing it through a warehouse district: They pause the film on a frame where the GMC is making a turn and the body roll/lean is such that the left front tire is deformed so bad the rim is almost on the ground? Who the heck produced that commerical? I would not have paused the film at that point. And, what tire pressure are they running, anyway? :2:

Oh well...

Regards,

-Joe

edit: fixed typo, dang it.

MY buddies father got a new one and he took me for a ride, and the thing is a POS! Its uncomfortable to sit in, the seats are like plywood. The motor is crap, it screams and doesnt go anywhere, and not to mention the thing looks like crap. I have had fords before but after buying my AV I will never buy anything else besides a Chevy! :B:

it's ugly, slow, and a ford, which means cheap, i mean inexpensive.............oh yea that too, but some will buy them just cuz they're cheap and then say they like them as a defense to their shortcomings.

LOL....I'll have to look for this next time they air the commercial. Nice observation DougD!
