Couldn't help but appreciate the irony during the snow storm of the past few days. The very same media that seems to jump on every opportunity to slam SUVs was publishing/broadcasting urgent pleas to SUV owners to help the local emergency workers.

The only part that threw me was the founder of the Hummer Club in Los Angeles saings all the rhetoric against SUVs was from the east coast. ?Isn't Hollywood and all of its elitist leftist in his backyard? ?

On the job, I meet with people from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection quite often. Guess what state vehicles they drive? Grand Jerokees and Suburbans. You have to laugh.....

There was an article in the NY Times today about that. You need a (free) login to get at it but here is the pointer. The title is What Would Jesus Drive in a Snowstorm? Well, Maybe an S.U.V.

Although the writer IMHO moralizes in the second paragraph about "gas-sucking Blazers and road-hogging Troopers" and talking about a Land Cruiser owner "feeling guilty" about getting 17mpg, on the whole it talks about that very thing - people slamming SUVs one week then lauding them the next It also talks about some of the people who took out time to ferry medical personnel and patients around.
