After a long wait I finally got my 17 inch rims and 305/70r17 tires. Hope you like the pics even though the truck is dirty during this rainy weather. Breedlove

Looks good. Can't say as I've ever seen rims like that before.

So even with that lift, you needed to trim some plastic? I guess that lets me out for getting 305's with just the F@@D keys that gave me around a 2 1/2" front lift.

Trimming was easier then I thought it would be. I used a razor blade, Drummel, and a belt sander. Hey Butch...what are ford keys anyway? I have tried to look them up on line, but can't find any pics of them. Breedlove

Why yes it is. I guess now Fabtech is going with black, but I think the blue is a little flashier with the white. Breedlove

That's too bad. There was always something about see that Fabtech blue on a truck, no matter what color the truck was. ;)
What size lift is that? My wife thinks that is the perfect height for the Avalanche.

I just did a search and I did not find a picture either. They are tear drop shaped and the torsion bar fits into them at the crossover bar back by the trans. It turns out the the Ford keys are the same as Chevy but the hex is indexed differant. When you install the Ford keys, the differance in that index results in a 2" or a little more front lift. There were ebay sellers selling them but they were high. I ordered them from a Ford parts online place and they were $18 each + shipping. Rides just a bit stiffer but not to noticable at all. It levals the Avalanche out. My brother also did this to his new 1/2 ton 4X4 Chevy pickup.

That's a tight truck. I am switching to 17's also. I bought the truck with 16" Welds. What tires are those? They look pretty mean. How is the ride on and off road?

To: UBNVS Tell your wife it's a 6 inch lift. with the extra dual shock hoop. And to the king of clubs, I have had the tires less then 24 hours so I don't know about offroad as of yet. They were quiet on the freeway, but they add stiffness to the lift. Maybe I should deflate them to 40lbs psi to soften the ride. They are Goodyear Wrangler MT/R 's. Which I might add has a $75 rebate right now on the MT/Rs. Thanks again for all the input....Breedlove

By the way King of clubs, there are only 2 companies that make a 305/70R17 tire, that is Good year and Procomp. And only Procomp makes an all terrain. So beware that 17's are hard to fit with big 4wd tires, 16's offer endless choices. I almost returned these rims because of the lack of choices, and Kmc XD rims don't come any smaller then 17. Best of luck, Breedlove

Thanks, I have noticed. I have been doing alot if research on off road or AT tires for 17" rims and have noticed my limited choices. I buy most of my tires from Tire-Rack, is there a better place to shop?

Hey Cuda owner. Yes I would love to find some fender flares that incorporate the body cladding into their design. I don't worry too much about the nerf bars...they are stainless anyway. Besides, it is a truck. I don't want to baby it too much. King of clubs- I ordered my rims through america's tire company and the tire through Walmart. Walmart was cheaper then America's tire company. Found the rims going through a Wheelpros catalog. They have lots of companies with lots of great looking rims.
