hello i dont know if anyone ever had this problem
without going into to much details saturday i was driving my avalanche and stopped at a stop lite but the truck just wouldnt stop..i had the brake on but the av just kept spinnig the tires like it was in 2nd gear or something i went threw the light and proceded to hit the gas and everything went back to normal like it never happend ...luckly no one was in front of me because i would of hit him...has anybody else ever have this problem???....by the way the av seems fine now but i hope it doesnt happen again i may not be so lucky next time

Wow! Luck was with you!

The only time something like this happened to me turned out to be driver error. I had my left foot turn sideways under the brake pedal. With my big feet, it would not let the brake pedal go down enough to stop the truck. :-[

My solution was easy, clean out my shorts and move the size 14's out of the way!!!

Hope someone has a better answer for you!

Did the break pedal go clear to the floor and act like there were no brakes at all? If this is the case you most likely have a power brake booster going bad. Better get it to the dealer QUICK! When these go out they can act normal for a while then do the same thing again when you least expect it!

brakes were fine it never went to the floor ...it just seemed like i had the brakes on and the gas at the same time...tires were spinnig happened so fast i couldnt react to it

I had that happen to me a long time ago with a 1967 Chevy Impala. Turned out it had a broken motor mount and the engine would cock to the side and keep the throttle stuck open. They eventually did a recall on this. If you think your motor was racing while you were apllying the brake, something caused the throttle to stick. I wouldn't mess around with it. Take it in and have them check out your computer codes. They might spot something wrong.

Hmmmmmmmmmm

Was your foot maybe hitting accelerator pedal or maybe floormat caught lower edge?

ygmn... it happened so fast im not sure....but today is wednesday and this happened saturday the av seems to be working fine ill keep a good eye on it and stay far away from other vehicles when stopping at a red lite just in case it wants to do it again...

I also had a very similar situation and told the dealer about it but nothing found... 04 z66. Driving on interstate with cruise control on at about 75 MPH.. Hit brakes as I was getting off an exit ramp that went up... I believe the cruise control went off when I tapped the brakes. As I was decelerating, I was about at ( I do not know exactly 30MPH-40MPH maybe) I was on the brakes but it was like the gas was still going.. I had to jump on the brakes real hard and then all went to normal.... I stopped in time and no issue fortunately.. But something went wrong... Either my foot was on the gas and brake and I did not realize it.. Or the gas was stuck for some reason... DId it once at about 2000 miles and has never repeated itself and now at 7000 miles.

48chevy, this is probably a tough question, as you were apparently very busy (and surprised) during this event ..... Did you by any chance have an opportunity to glance at your tach?

:B: Good luck and Drive Safe :B:

ava_grandpa....funny you said that because yes i looed right at the tach abd it was like it jumped ...dont ask me how high because it happened so fast ...but it just seemed like it was in 2nd gear..

the rocks launche sound like my experience only difference is i was going on a 35 mile perhour road i have 6700 miles on my AV..and so far it only did it ones and the truck seems fine now..what did your dealer day to you when you brought the AV
for this problem???

The dealer had my car for a few days while I was out of town.. They drove it and could not repeat this problem. One thing I have also noticed with this truck.. in Cruise control when going down a steeper than normal hill on the highway the truck - lurches until it gets back on the flatter levels of the highway....
I understand the gas pedal is not mechanically linked to the throttle body any more and wonder if there is something wrong with a servo that controls the gas during this lurching issue and also the gas appearing to be stuck issue???
Any idea?

I have had this happen to me twice in the last month, I wote it off to being ice in the intersection, but now I am not sure. Both time I was heading downhill towards a stop sign and I did not stop until I was in the intersection. I have the truck going in for another issue (cracked mirror and a sill plate that split) so I wil ask them to look at it then....

Rocks Lanche:

The lurching thing happened to me the other day on a long (6 hour) trip. Funny thing is, I frequently take a half-hour drive which includes some big hills...always using cruise and it never happens. The lurch thing happened on some typical interstate hwy. hills, but only 2 times in the whole 12 hours of driving that weekend. I wrote the lurch off to cruise control getting confused with car overrunning engine speed.

Edit to add: 04 Z66

I have this same problem with the cruise control.
04 model.. Going down steep hills with cruise control on, the truck lurches back and forth.. This is very annoying and I can not imagine it being good for the transmission either.
