Hey Guys... I just got photos back from my first trip outa town with my av. so here they are! I took a beautiful road up the side of santa cruse moutains, and saw all the cites of san fransico, san jose, oakland, and parts of santa cruse itself. i was very pleased with the way my av performed at the high altitudes. anyways here are the photos! Enjoy! ;D

BTW two things, don't my truck look like a toy? and sorry bout the smog in the photos... it's not all from my truck!

Sounds like a cool trip.

Is that what's in the background ... Smog?

We didn't come across any in the Texas Hill Country ;)

I recall you mentioning a visit to Texas.

When and where is that going to be?

Bigred,

Not sure how you can say it performed well at High Altitiude, Santa Cruz Mountains can't be more than 3000ft.

But the AV does run good at High Altitude, my last off-roading trip in to the sierras put us at about 7000ft.

BTW great shots too bad the bay area is so smoggy :9: Is almost a blessing when it is so foggy you can't notice the brown sky. :cautious:

Whats up Flying that was some cool cool stuff to bad I don't have those kind of trails here in the City.

Hmmm,

I guess post sounded more mean then it was supposed to. Wasn't ment to be mean :6:

Anyways I think even Big Red will admit that there are better views at the Sant Cruz Boardwalk ;) ;)

P.S. I have this altitude issue I am still trying to deal with after leaving Wyoming. When you grow up at 7200ft you tend to develop a chip on your shoulder when someone mentions altitude. Got to get that chip fixed. Do think Bondo will work ;)

Looks great. Sounds like you had lot of fun.

I can't wait the here the next adventure story and see more photos. (maybe some of the AV in action ;D )

yeah your right flyin, i think the gps said we were 3,280 feet up at one point... next time i go i'll check again. it feels high... cause there is no edge on that road... it's just straight down.

goo... i'll be headen out to texas the day after wild west! i leave from the trip to my house... stop pack load up and i'm gone, i should be in texas in two days, but i'm heading out to mineral wells... near fort worth. then i'll be out to euless and then allen texas. i think thats only 2 or 4 hours from you right? ;)

~BIGRED

oh yeah... views at santa cruz.. lots of them too... it's good to be single and seventeen ;D hey flyn, maybe we should change that first meet... to the beach? just an idea! :0:

Altitude is relative . . but the Av does well. When traffic cooperates, I've had have no problem keeping up an 80 MPH rate up to the I-70 Eisenhower tunnel in central Colorado - a bit over 11,000 feet. Next adventure - Trail Ridge Road - up to over 12,000 feet, but too twisty to make much speed.

Now if I remember right, there are some pretty challenging grades on the way to and from Santa Cruz . . not a bad performance test in its own right - really pretty country too!

Allen Texas is 301 miles north of San Antonio.

Give me call when you get to Texas and we will see if we might run into you.

On Friday August 30, our group will be cruising up to Cloudcroft, NM (9000 feet altitude) for Southern Rendezvous 2002. We should have an extra bed to spare too. ;D

aww man :6: I-70 through Glenwood Canyon would be SOOOOO beautiful right now. I'm getting all misty eyed.

aww man... i wish i could go, but i'm going to be running laps at texas motor speedway on the those days... but it's ok... cause i'm all ways down there... i mean i come back in a half of month after i leave! oh well... i can always dream... 100 avalanches in a row on the luner surface... "hey guys i'm gunna jump that crator... it's only 2 football fields long... watch this.." wooo coool it's like in slow motion... everything is getting darker... darker... darker... must sleep now.

;)

Big Red: Laps at the speedway? RPDE?? If so I did this in Florida.....Have to admit 600HP was a little more than my Z71, but I did miss the AC and Leather....Next Trip to Florida will do Daytona (slightly more $$$) but those banked corners are calling me....

Ahhhh.... Skyline Blvd. I went cruising there many times when I lived in Redwood City, and while you can see the whole bay and peninsula on a clear day, I don't think the elevation is much over 2500ft., depending on how far south you went. I remember the newscasters were always running out there to see if there was snow in the real wet El Nino winter a few years back. (It did snow there once while we lived there.)

Also, it's paved the whole way isn't it? So whatchu talkin' "trail'? Hehehe.... Just teasin'. It is a good route, but I think you'll get more off-roading at WildWest then you will on Skyline Blvd.

Brendan

skyline? ??? whatcha talking about... thats like 50 miles away... the road i took has no name... thats only cause the sign got knocked down and i didn't care at the time but it's about 50 miles south and on a different fault line. ;)

but your right... i will be geting alot more off roading on wild west... can't wait!

~BIGRED

Woah, my bad! The pictures you took look exactly like Skyline Blvd. (HWY 35) that runs along the ridge to the west of I-280. Further south, it turns into HWY 9 or something like that... But if you were 50 miles south, then I guess you're on a different road.... Say, was the road you took off of 17?

Brendan

you can get close to it from a road off of 17, but this road is from the stevens creek side, now that i think about it i feel kinda lamn... ok tomorrow i'm going to find a better road... no no i mean find a place where a road has been... i mean roads? where i come from we don't need roads...

Thats the spirit!! (y)

Also I know when you filled out Chief's WW2002 questionaire you made sure to put that you were willing to off-road with risk of damage just like I did right? >:D >:D >:D

i believe i did just that. ;D

Yes BIGRED that is exactly what you are doing right now. You must be careful when increasing post count. The shameless post can be a very powerful tool if used correctly. Just Look at Goo's post count for example. Although I think the other members are on to him now. So becareful BIGRED. ;)
