Flush front bumper

I thought I'd post something I had seen on another forum.  We were talking about the cateye front end on the SUV that never came with it.    This is a 99-02 Silverado/ 00-06 Tahoe/suburban front bumper (all 1500), on the cat eyes front end.  The bumper has NOT been modified.  The bumper bracket has NOT been modified.  The only custom part to this was this owner using two different bumper caps and plastic welding them together.  This mod on the cateye front end is nothing more than swapping over a bumper, and coming up with a bumper cap. There is still some more sanding and work to smooth that out (not my mod).  Not sure if there is a bumper cap that might work better.

Didn't bother searching if its been done here or not, but thought someone might like this if not.

Here is the original thread (starting on page 5, where 03catburban jumped in, with another pic on page 6).

I've read that GM didn't use this because it wasn't "tough enough" looking without the bumper lip.  IMO that looks pretty good.  The looks with a bigger humped hood, those few extra inches in a 20ft garage are going to make me do this if I end up trying to fit one in there.

That is pretty sweet! She is a very tight fit in the garage length-wise, this would be a useful mod.

Looks nice from a fashion view and I understand about wanting to fit the AV in a garage too.
I wonder if sometimes companies also consider repair costs in the event of a collision and can't help but think that in low speed relatively minor accidents if you don't have that "crumple zone" from a protruding bumper you will have more damage to grille, headlights, fenders and hood etc. Same would hold true for those who remove rear bumper for the look of a smooth flush roll pan. It could lower the crash rating.
I know before I owned AVs I drove Suburbans and twice I had people run into the back of my Suburban and only sustained minor bending and small scratch on a hitch cover I had on at all times when not towing. The vehicles who hit me had way more damage.
I wonder if you could spend about the same money and time to modify front and rear of AV to fit that maybe you could just enlarge your garage on one end by a foot or so and gain more space?
