Ok, finally got it done. A few of you will remember a thread I started a few weeks ago, asking for opinions on what part of the cladding to paint first (wanted to test the skill of the shop painting it, and test how well it would hold up for a few weeks before painting all the cladding).

I decided on the Front Bumper, as it was a big piece, and takes alot of abuse. I figure if it holds up, the rest of the cladding should be fine.

It turned out great. Nice smooth, shinny finish. The white paint doesn't match 100%, I would say about 90%, but I'm ok with this. The shop said it was because of the plastic, and pointed out that my door handle bezels (which are also not metal) are also a little brighter white that the rest of the truck (metal areas).

Tell me what you think!

Several Pics to follow,
Gator

Oh yea, 1 more thing.....I will be installing a Chrome Street Scene Speed Grille this weekend.

The guy who did the work will also be painting the bowtie to match when I give him the rest of the cladding to do.....I know you all were probably wondering about that. Don't think that gold bowtie is going to look too good surrounded in white and chrome (y)

That looks great. I just bought mine less than a week ago. It's also white and was wondering what I could do and how it would look to change the look of the gray cladding. You've got me thinking about having mine painted.

looks excellent painted....much better than that dingy gray.

I am looking at having everything non painted painted soon. It really makes a difference

Thanks guys. Only a day into it, and I've already been turning heads all over town. Of course, some of those turning heads are just probably wondering why I didn't paint the rest ;D

Niiiiiiiice Gator. Can't wait to see the rest of it. I'm also going to install a street scene speed grill and get rid of that gold bowtie. I was going with a chrome one though.

Sure you may. I agreed to pay him $1600 for everything, so we just came up with $300 for the front bumper initially.

For that price, he removes all pieces from the truck, and does all the proper prep work.

Seemed like a great deal. I really like the way it turned out.....although I want to give it a thorough (couple of weeks, and a road trip to Gainesville for the first game of the season) durability test not sure how long I'll be able to wait before doing the rest ;D

Thanks,
Gator

Well, one week later, and all is well. The paint is holding up well...no chips.

I know its only been a week, but because of my daily commute (on roads with more dirt/gravel trucks than cars) the bumper has taken several shots from rocks.

A couple more weeks, and a trip to Gainesville for a football game (extreme bug test), and I'll be comfortable enough to paint the rest (y)
