The placement of the license plate on the front bumper of the uncladded model is a bit awkward. If you screw in the top, the plate hands over the black portion of the bumper. If you screw in the bottom, the plate sticks up and into the air intake area.

How do most of you display your license plate on your front bumper. ???

I don't, even though I have to by law. I just carry it around in the truck with me in case someone asks.
I've noticed pre-2001 Silverados have a bracket that comes with the bumper. Now, all the Silverados and Avalanches from 2003-up just screw directly into the hole. I'm gonna ask my parts dept if I can get that bracket. Will update.

Correction: as to the lic. plate bracket... My 03 came with 1! my 02 did NOT but dealer got it for me (but the A/HOLES didn't attache it in time and they mounted it to the bumper...

MAN was I "PISSED" but it was fixed.

So a BRACKET in available for it, An I do have 1 if somebody is interested in it, as I do not use it.

P.S. Finally got around to getting my PERSONALIZED PLATE

What ya think.

The 2004 wbh bumper doesn't have an obvious location. I put my plate/frame with screws on top, but it hands down over the bottom part of the bumper. At least it doesn't block the air inlets. This location will probably cause some wear on the bumper, since it touches the chrome in 3 places. :p

Let me know, I checked my 04 out and it looks dorky.

Has anyone ever located a GM (front) license plate bracket for the WBH Avs? My local Chevy parts people have been no help at all. I found a part number on the internet (15098459) that was supposed to be the front bracket for the new style Silverado. When I brought it to the dealer, they told me that part number was replaced by 15199886. I had them order it for me, and when I received it, it was the exact part I was looking for, but it was for the GMC Sierra, not the Silverado/WBH.

I've jury-rigged something in the interim, using a universal license plate bracket from the local parts store.

Anyone had any luck finding a GM bracket?? ???

Scix,

What I did was put some rubber adhesive stickers behind my license plate frame to avoid unnecessary rubbing, so far so good! Hope this helps. It really blows that th WBH's don't have a home for the front plates! :E:

I ended up doing the same thing. I also purchased a nice pair of Avalanche frames from the local Chevy dealer parts department for $27 each. At least this makes something awkward look better.

Scix, I did the same but I bought a Chevy License plate frame with Chevy Bowties on them...Its all about adapting and overcoming! (y)

I had no luck with the dealer, so I made my
own solution.

Use an aftermarket frame with a full backing plate.
Mount to factory top of plate holes in bumper using
black plastic bushings as spacers (3/8 to 1/2 long, I don't remember exactly) The plate is spaced out to clear the peak in the bumper and does not rub the
chrome or plastic.

Looks like it should be there, and is cheap.
I cannot believe GM does not have a factory solution.
