Finally got to visit Estes Park. The fam and I went with my bro-in-law, who goes to CSU, and the sister-in-law who was visiting from out of town.

I saw plenty of Avys driving up I-25 on the way to Ft. Collins on Saturday and then saw a bunch more around town. (y)

We were sitting at a light when a SO2M WBH went by. The sister-in-law said "Oh, that is ugly..." But keep in mind, she drives a F**d Expedition. I quitely said a prayer for her and kept myself in check! :p

If it wasn't so far from my house, I would suggest a GTG up at Estes Park. My bro-in-law took us to a cool camp site. We had to hike in a little ways (not recommended with a 5 year old) since the trail was closed, but there were some good campsites up on top. The trail is pretty ugly but nothing the Avy wouldn't be able to handle.

I took several pics near his "killer camp site," and put them into a panoramic shot. It's attached since it is too wide to post inline. I used an optimizer to get it below 100K as well. The GPS coordinates are: 40? 21.80N, 105? 26.67W at the spot I took the pics.

Cheers,

-Joe

There will be a LPM WBH with TX plates cruising around the Springs and Canon City this week. (My Daughter and my Wife are visiting realtives) (y)

Ahh, Pole Hill. Yep. Had a big truck almost take me and the family out on 36 there one time...

I am back and forth through Ft. Collins all the time. Most of my family all live in Loveland, and we are building a new cabin at: N40? 48.640' W105? 35.477'

Estes could be a good place for a camping GTG weekend thing. Lots of stuff to do, yeah it's way to touristy, but still there would be stuff for everyone. There at least used to be a few guys from up in Ft Collins and Greeley and such here online a while back.

Kewl beans! I'll keep an eye out. But, out of state plates are not uncommon here in the Springs. Ft. Carson, Peterson AFB, Schreiver (sp?) AFB, and the AF Academy keep plenty of out of state plates here.

Yeah, we turned up CR122 off of 36. I think it was 36. Certainly good for camping, still close to town for those "I can't believe we forgot ---- !" type of items. (But not the cast-iron cookware that I forgot last time. :6: )

New cabin? Cool. (y) I'll have to look it up, maybe add it as a way point. >:D If I can look it up, I keep forgetting I don't own the mapping software that my Oregon hunting buddy has.

I remember seeing a couple of Ft. Collins/Greeley members on here, too. Haven't in a while, tho.

Funny/weird thing totally off topic: A girl I dated in high school and college was born in Greeley and my wife was born here in the Springs...but I went to school in Oregon and met my wife there, too. Small world, man. Did I ever mention that we met a family from the Springs when we visited Disney World in December?!? And a lady we met while watching a parade has a daughter that lives here and the lady's husband had just left for the Springs that day?!? Nutz, I tell ya. Oh, I ramble so...

TTYL,

-Joe
