Here it goes,
I have been sifting thru Gatorback topics for a month now and have moved forward with contacting dealers for repair. I printed off the TSB Bulletin for the cladding problem and have called 7 dealers within 100 miles or so, of which only three would actually look into it further. At the same time I contacted GM & started a file (complaint) with them. All three dealers told me they would contact the Regional Service Rep and get back to me. Meanwhile GM had me bring it into the closest dealership to confirm the issue. After bringing it in, the service rep at the dealership confirmed that it's "Extremely Faded!", and told me he would get in contact the the Regional Service Manager. GM told me they would monitor the progress and keep in touch with them and me. I has now been 3 weeks and I just got the call today from GM telling me that the Regional Service Manager will offer NO Assistance for this problem. Because I'm the second owner and its not in warranty.  I have bought ALL NEW GM VEHICLES! (6 in 10yrs) with the exception of this one that I bought GM Certified Jan, 07 with 64k. WHAT ELSE CAN I DO? The other dealers have now called back also and said they can't help because theres no warranty. Robert At Gatorback told me he doesn't have any contacts with the RSM in my area.  IS THAT IT? Do I need to move on and start thinking about doing it myself? (I will consider that once all my options are exhausted.) I will attach some pics of the cladding. PS sorry for the book I just wrote.

Here they are but i'm no photographer and it's at night

i have the same truck and same problem but once theses trucks hit 36,000 they wont touch it i also got the major guard warrenty from fox ?the only thing they ofer is amidillo
at least hear in new york

Wow, that is one of the worst that I have seen. Was it showing the fading and striping when you bought it or had they covered it up by treating it with something? GM Certified should mean something, have you talked to the dealer where you bought it? Maybe you could at least convince them to do it as a courtesy or maybe the labor part if you offered to buy the GatorBack. You never said, where are you from?

Not true, I got mine done with 53K on it, I did buy it new at the dealership that OK'ed it to be done.

Black AvA,
I heard people with 100k+ even some 2nd owners got it approved and It's driving me nuts that I've seemed to hit a dead end with it. Are you gunna try applying it yourself?

yea might have to nobody will take care of it i was thinking of using future but some members had problems with it some didnt

My dealer turned out to be an ass as soon as I walked off the lot. He just told me that it's used and GM won't pay for it since the warranty is up. That's what I get for driving 3 hours to try to get a good deal. He claimes they just cleaned it up to sell it but I KNOW they treated it with something. After 2 or 3 washes it was already terrible.

Is the Avalanche from there because it look like a southern truck with that much fading......

butch, I seen that a few weeks ago. I'd like to go but I have a newborn and not sure it's gunna work. Crossin my fingers though.

what i would say is to go to some meetings in your area and ask other members thats what i plan on doing when we all get together other members trucks its been done on all the methods floor wax ,gatorback ,clad back. last time i went they were using a special brush and rubbing the cladding to make it hot and it worked it looked like new in spots

Well Welcome to the club and good luck with that GatorBack! I had to get mine done twice because it was not prepared well the first time! They re-did it for free and it has been on about 6 months now and is holding up well. Read all you can about the prep work if you decide to do it yourself. There are plenty of members here who have done it themselves with good results, I know some would help if they were closer to you!

Butch

PS. black AvA that is a good idea, going to a meeting or GTG's is always a great way to find information about the Avalanche and any problems and fixes!

I just don't know if i'll be satisfied with those other methods...I've had gatorback in my head a month now and pretty soon I'm just gunna order it myself. Unless another miracle arises. PS. I'm leaning toward going with the black. Which would be a whole nother issue if it ever was approved by GM.

Thanks guys, This forum is amazing on the response times. I couldn't even get all my pics uploaded before getting replys....10:30 monday night none the less!

You will LOVE that black, it makes it look like a different truck! REMEMBER PREP IS EVERYTHING READ, READ, READ!

things to consider if you go with the black GB. ?GM has covered very little (if any GB in black). ?it looks great, but every scratch will show up as the light grey. ?

I have black on an 02 and it will make it look like a new truck. ?It can and has been done by members from this site. ?the prep/cleaning took longer than the actual application of the GB.

SWEET TRUCK. I really like the colors and the awesome running boards! If I do it, i'm going to prep the crap out of it...probly like a full day or close to it. I am hesitant the the black on black might be to much, With little money for chrome accents, rims, etc.
