Get Togethe

Hi Ian. It has been a long time since there has been a GTG. This is probably a little bit far for you but if you have never been to a weekend GTG, this one is always fun:

West Virginia WWW X

We will have to do a GTG some time in the spring like you said

Yes, things have gone real quiet since Harry left. :(  If there are people still in the area, and I'm available, I'd be interested.

I still don't have many mods, so not much to look at here.  But always a good time seeing others rides.

I am all for it. I miss the ones we had in Connecticut.  Springtime sounds great. How can I help?

This is Alan in Pikesville,  astew20660@aol.com.  A further thought.  When we had mod get togethers in CT we were lucky in that we met a a garage that had four lifts and an owner/mechanic who owed an AVA and knew all about it.  He would be there all day and early evening (food later in day) to oversee, raise and lower the lifts, and help the job being done. He benefited from exposing himself to forty or fifty AVA owners, from the sale of parts, and the good fellowship that followed the day.  You did not have to do a mod, but rather look at what everyone else is doing, select that which you would like to have done and then either do it yourself or (payback) go back to the sponsor garage to have the work done for a fee.  We used to run from aboutt ten in the morning to close to midnight.  Now if we can only find such a sponsor garage or dealer who wants this type of exposure without telling us he would love to do it but insurance problem. Well, a twenty four hour rider is not an impossible thing to arrange.  The key is the mechanic who understands AVA, especially its electrical systems.  Thoughts?

That is an awesome idea Alan.  I personally do not know of any garages that would be interested in a deal like that.  If someone knew a person like that, it could be an awesome GTG.

I'm new in town and would love to attend a gtg. Put me on the list.

Also, does anybody know if are there going to be any car shows, air shows, races, or monster truck events anytime in the next 6 months or so? Those are all great places to have GTG's (at least that's the way we rolled in Tampa/Orlando).

I have a list of car show my car club will be participating in this year.  Most of the shows are north of Baltimore.  If you aair interested, let me know.

Alan, that is a terrific idea. I wish I knew of a garage that would go for something like that.

Gents, I'm down for some GTG action, it's been a while!

`It is a shame that we do not have the same access for mods as we had in CT.  There we were able to purchase, very cheaply, 24 hours of extra one million of liability insurance, and that took care of that.  This is the main reason that we can't find that kind of location here in Maryland.  It would be interesting to know where this branch of the Club has met in the past for mod get togethers.  The main problem I think is not getting the space but rather being able to get under the Avalanches for installs.  Especially to run wire cables.  Talk soon, best always. ALAN    astew72@yahoo.com.

The first GTG I went to was in Delaware with peeps from Maryland, New Jersey, and Delaware.  We met at a Hooters.  The other Maryland GTG's I have been to were at DuClaws in Bowie and at Chevy's in Arundel Mills.

I'm Havalanche aka Harold Smith and I live in in Woodlawn Md. I joined the forum  back in 2003 with my first Av. I just got my second Av in Dec. a 2011 LTZ Black with Painted EXT panels and power running boards and every option I could get. Anyway a view years ago I tried to arrange a GTG at a local touchless car wash. I thought it would be a good place to get our trucks clean, mingle and then go for a bite. Car washes love car clubs. The Ball is in your court. There is a Brand New Sudsville self service car wash on Rt. 40 in Catonsville and there is a great dinner down the street.
