I was also considering the Borla , but at 300 dollars more and both being stainless and having lifetime warranty it was an easy choice.
 
Nice looking system! ?I was considering but decided to go with Corsa Pro series dual 4.0 tips. ?The only reason I went with the Corsa was because of the slanting pipes and the note. ?Corsa has a great website also.?Does anyone have this system on their av? ?Good luck with the Gibson!

I called Gibson and they told me the single sys would give more power I wonder why? Please let us know how they fit

The Vortec likes a bit of back pressure for optimum power.

I took about an hour or so to take off the stock system and install the Gibson cat back package. Noticed a considerable gain in throttle response and has a great sound. I will take photos on Sunday and post them here.

Was it a straight up install? or was there any drilling or anything involved for the hangers? hows the spare tire access?

Installation was very easy. No drilling required for hangers. Uses stock hanger locations. The spare tire is the question. Yes it does block the rear of the tire, but I think that when you lower the spare, you can just tilt the tire away from the crossover pipe. I am not worried.

Do you have your Corsa yet? I ordered mine about a week and a half ago, and it's still in production. :cautious:

I really hope to get it this week, I'm leaving for another camping trip early Saturday morning if all goes as planned. I want to slap it on before I go!

No I haven't got the Corsa yet, but look to have it by the end of the week. I cannot wait!!!! Which exhaust sytem did you get, was it the dual 4.0 tips? Good luck with it. >:D
 
Yeah, I went with the plain Avalanche 5.3 side exit model... Part number 14250, with the dual 4" tip. :)

I was looking into the Sierra / Silverado models, with -two- of the 'double-barrel' tips out the back. The person I was speaking with at Corsa, said they differ from the Avalanche setup, and there were no plans in the future to produce a dual exhaust for the Av.

Also, the Avalanche model uses the 6.0L muffler. The 5.3 muffler is a bit more raspy I guess, and the 6.0 is a little deeper, which fits the Av's look better.

Both the Corsa and the Gibson look very nice... I'm very interested in the Interior noise/resonance. A good system in my mind is quiet inside, loud outside. How loud is it inside the Corsa and Gibson when driving around town?

I am currently running the Corsa system. It has a great sound while accelerating. My father has a 2002 escalade, and my brother has a Yukon Denali and they installed the same Corsa system, but the sound of theirs blows mine away, They have the 6.0 high output though,rather than the 5.3,so im sure that has much to do with it. The Corsa is nearly silent while idling or slowly accelarating, but if u get down it, it will open up real quick. As far as interior noise goes,there is very little if any in my opinion in comparison to other vehicles I have driven with aftermarket exhaust systems. I noticed a slight throttle response after installing the system a few months ago. I would like to hear the gibson and maybe switch over to it,or the Borla, because I have always favored dual exhuast coming out of both sides. Maybe Corsa will come out with this soon? ???
 
I ordered my Gibson SS extreme dual exhaust today. ;DNow all I to do is wait till 9-17 when there are to be here. :mad:Sure hope there are as good as you all say.
 
When I got home today a big box was waiting for me.
My Gibson SS extreme dual exhaust has come. Now I must get my tools and get busy.
 
Well I got them on it took longer to get the old one off than to install the new set very easy 1 1/2 hours.
Only one thing bad :cautious: one off the tips was not the right size.I called Gibson and they will ship the rigth one out monday. Sounds great and on the highway it is no louder inside ;D
 
CAN SOMEONE PROVIDE SOME FACTS ON THIS?
When shopping, BOTH the Gibson customer service tech and the distributor (Truck Performance) stated the single side exhaust would yield better torque and power for typical road and towing use.

I actually would have liked to go dual for the look and sound, but Gibson stated they had researched the Chevy Vortec and found it DOES like to see a certain amount of backpressure from the exhaust system.

Can anyone provide some facts to clear this up as I would be disapppointed to not get the dual if I was mislead on the singel?
