GM Accessories' Avalanche bed extender

I was told by the dealer that it was the LTZ model that had these fixed hooks. I really dont get that...but its what they said.

Is it not possible to get the old part from GM?
Sounds like this dealer hasn't looked very hard.  My Av is an LTZ.  So besides the non-LTZ owners that have the hardpoints, add the fact that mine doesn't, and it's obvious that it wasn't a trim-specific difference.

thanks USA1fan and RR07LTZ for the info. My tie downs are the new style I will try this out when I buy my bed extender.

I know everyone is thinking this, why would they change it to fixed hook, now this intrudes into the bed.......

If you can't get just that hook - which looking on gmpartsdirect, it looks possible, you might want to try the local salvage yard.

no offense to those who have the GM Bed Extender, but for hauling a motorcycle, you are MUCH better off with a Ready Ramp, just used mine today to haul a pal's 2007 GSXR1000. A Great long ramp (you need length so it isn't too steep), which stores easily in the bed when not in use because it folds, and then it becomes a great bed extender (straps click into the gate lock mechanism and cinch off on the unit, and other straps hook over the latch pins and cinch off on the gate.

Wish I had taken a pic, but mine looks just like this:

I have tried other ramps, this one is one of the sweetest ones out there (the way it folds up makes it the easiest to store) plus the fact that it functions as a bed extender is great (let's face it, the bike is cinched down by 4 straps, but you need the peace of mind of having the gate back there). Plus, if you have other gear in the bed (such as you would if going to a track day) you want to keep it from sliding out.  And you don't need to drill into your bed or mount brackets.

Nice product, I'll have to start saving for one of these.

what a great idea  (y)

nice! I think I will be ordering the ready ramp instead of the gm bed extender. I need this for my 07 GSXR 600.

where did u get those brackets to fit the bed extender,to replace the factory tie downs

where did u buy those brackets at? to raplace the tie downs to put the bed extender in

Does anyone have a part number for the extender? Is it a GM part or aftermarket? I have a 2012 LTZ, but my bed looks like everyone else.

Thanks!

Not sure of the part number. It was a GM accessory, but most show it only fits First Gen 2002-2006.
I can tell you this is not true. Mine fits just fine. I did however have to add 2 washers to the outside of the top tie-down, and there are a couple things you can do to modify the lower tie-down to work. I simply removed the tie-down and used washers (6) or you can trim the plastic bed liner and turn the tie-down upside down and use 2 washers. I will try to post some pics when I get back from vacation.

Thanks Douglas. That was what I was finding, was the 02-06 and none for the new body style.

I found mine on Kijiji (Canada's version of Craigslist) Delivered it to me for 70 bucks!  Make sure you get the brackets with it! A lot of people leave them with the truck. And it's pretty much useless without them.

I have a 2012 avalanche lts I am looking to add the bed extender to my truck. does anyone have the part number? I am also looking to put a bedrug in it but am unable to find it anywhere. Also does anyone know if the rings are interchangable on these things?

thank you for this, you just solved my probem. I got the newer style tie down hooks in my 07 avalanche and i needed a ramp ( was gonna buy one tomorrow at a shop) for my dirtbikes, but wanted a bed extender as i would need to leave tailgate down if i ever took more than one bike, and this is exactly what i need!
