hmmm do we get to choose which model we win? ;D

According to the official rules, GM will determine what vehicle you get if you win, but it will be based on what vehicle you are in when you press the blue button and that in turn is going to be determined by the dealer. OTH, since the 1,000 prizes break down into 625 Chevys, xx GMCs, yy Hummers, zz Saabs, etc. that statement may mean that if you are in a Chevy, you'll win a Chevy and if you are in a GMC you'll win a GMC as opposed to being in an AV vs. a Metro for instance.

Here's the exact statement from the GM rules:

A winning participant will be awarded a GM vehicle that corresponds to the make/brand of the vehicle used when such winning participant plays the GM Hot Button game or the make/brand of the vehicle indicated on participant's mail-in game request form. For example: If a participant receives a winning message while in a Pontiac vehicle, the prize awarded will be a Pontiac, with make, model and features as determined at the sole discretion of the Sponsor

Looks like if you win, you'll have to trade in your prize and purchase that new AV you really wanted. ;D

What if a non-GM owner shows up and participates in this? How does GM select what vehicle they would win?

Also, is it determined by what GM division dealer you go to, or what GM product you currently own?

You have to push the button in a specially designated vehicle at the dealers. Doesn't matter what you own.

Also, is it determined by what GM division dealer you go to, or what GM product you currently own?

That's the only way I'd drive a ford- if it was given to me for free!

If you won, would you . . .

- sell the new vehicle, in order to pay the taxes on it, then pay off your Av?

- sell the new vehicle, in order to pay the taxes on it, then trade your Av in for a new one, with cash to spare?

- sell the new vehicle, in order to pay the taxes on it, then trade your Av in for another vehicle, with cash to spare?

- keep the new vehicle and sell your Av to pay the taxes?

- keep the new vehicle and pay the taxes out-of-pocket?

- other?

- sell the new vehicle, in order to pay the taxes on it, then pay off your Av?

I'd sell the new vehicle, in order to pay the taxes on it, trade in my wife's car for a new AV, and keep the extra money to pay for the increase in gas consumption. :0:

Has anyone read the fine print?

Prizes: 1,000 Grand Prizes. 1,000 GM vehicles will be awarded based on the participating GM dealerships and the make/brand of the designated OnStar equipped promotional vehicles used by participants when playing the game. A winning participant will be awarded a GM vehicle that corresponds to the make/brand of the vehicle used when such winning participant plays the GM Hot Button game or the make/brand of the vehicle indicated on participant's mail-in game request form. For example: If a participant receives a winning message while in a Pontiac vehicle, the prize awarded will be a Pontiac, with make, model and features as determined at the sole discretion of the Sponsor. If a participant receives a winning message by mail-in request, the prize awarded will be a vehicle based on the name of the participating GM dealership and the make/brand of vehicle sold by the named GM dealership as indicated on such participant's game request form. Of the 1,000 total available vehicle prizes approximately 625 will be Chevrolet, with a minimum Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $9,995; approximately 15 will be Oldsmobile, with a minimum MSRP of $18,950; approximately 130 will be Pontiac, minimum MSRP $15,495; approximately 43 will be Buick, minimum MSRP $22,305; approximately 6 will be Cadillac, minimum MSRP $31,060; approximately 70 will be GMC, minimum MSRP $15,405; approximately 2 will be HUMMER, minimum MSRP $49,995; approximately 104 will be Saturn, minimum MSRP $10,995; approximately 5 will be Saab, minimum MSRP $26,090. The actual vehicle and features/options will be determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion, and actual MSRP of each vehicle may vary depending on the features/options it contains, but will not fall below the minimum MSRP for each vehicle brand listed above.

If you go to a chevy dealer you have the best odds of winning (most cars given away) but the minimum value of the car/truck is only $9,995.00. That wouldn't go very far towards the purchase of a new AV. The Hummer would be nice but they are only giving away 2. Oh well, it is still 1000 cars. Odds of winning 1 in 5,500. Not bad.

Depends on what kind of car I won. If I liked the new car, I would keep it and pay out the pocket taxes on it and keep my AV! ;) (y)

If I got an ugly vehicle?... I would resell it and put that money towards my AV to pay it off!

Hopefully if I win it will be something nice! I think I deserve something else nice in life! ;) >:D ;)

Steering Committee Members and Moderators:

I will be contacting GM today to see if principals on the site are eligible. The way the disclaimer is written and where we operate with a grant of permission SC members and/or moderators may be exempt.

I don't see that in here:

Who may participate: Promotion open to legal residents of the 50 United States and the District of Columbia who are 21 years of age or older at time of entry and hold a valid U.S. driver's license. Employees, officers, and directors of General Motors Corporation ("GM" or "Sponsor"), its subsidiaries, affiliated companies, dealerships, advertising and promotion agencies, and those associated with the development, distribution or implementation of this Game, their immediate families (including parents, in-laws, siblings, children or spouse, regardless of where they live) and members of the same household, whether related or not, are not eligible to participate.

Hey...you have a one in 5,500 chance of winning and those odds are considerably better than the lottery! ;)

I would sell it to pay the taxes, even if it was something great like a H2. I really need the money. I would then weigh my options:

1) Reinvest the proceeds in myself by working on my Masters

2) Pay off my Av (not likely)

3) Bank it for the kids for college

4) If it was something small (like a stripped Cavilier) then I'd probably just do something more frivilous like pay off a minor credit card and go on a nice trip with the kids.

went to the dealer to play the game. pressed the On-Star button only to be let down about 30 seconds later. :E: i was in a Tahoe. this was the vehicle that the manager told me was eligible for the contest. oh well. :6:
