GMC Avalanche?

Has anyone here heard any rumors about when GM will sell AVs with a GMC logo?

I've heard that GMC was going to get an Avalanche style vehicle but based on the midsize chassis - sort of Blazer / Jimmy size I guess.

Might not be a bad setup, but i'll bet the bed won't be 4 feet wide and likely not 8 feet long! - a major feature of the Avalanche!

Chevy's big truck will still rule - at least until GMC turns the Terradyne into reality!

GMC is going to get a smaller version of the Avalanche based on the Envoy built out of OKC. Some Av members here have claimed to have seen a few running around, but no spy photos. I believe production is planned for 2003.

The S-10 replacement which will be built in Louisiana is delayed for six to nine months. GM says it is due to a slow economy but I've got a feeling that VC Lutz didn't like something in the styling and made changes.

This replacement being the Colorado I assume chief? I remember reading something about this in the pages of motor trend.....

Ya - it's the Colorado and it looks really sharp. It's getting a lot of praise by the car magazines. It's going to have the same 4.2 liter 6 as in the Trailblazer/Envoy so I'd expect A LOT of base horsepower and torque. Word is regular car, extended cab and crew cab versions. The Colorado is suppose to be bigger too, closer to a Dakota in size.

It's going to stomp the Ranger when it comes out for at least a year - Ford announced that the Ranger launch is also delayed recently so the despite the Colorado delay, Chevrolet/GMC still gets a one year jump on the new Ford. Ford's redesigned Ranger is also delayed for "cost cutting reasons" with Ford having to go back and cut features out of the lineup.

I am a bigger fan of the new Colorado than the old S-10 and sonoma it will replace....it seems like it sits on a more aggressive stance and seems like it has a lot more clearance.....I'm not sure what Ford is doing to combat this new release...... :B:

I wish you guys would post pictures or links about these things, so that those of us trying to follow the chat can know what your talking about! Or is it just that we don't see those models down here?

Skidd 7;)

Actually, It's going to have a new I-4 and I-5 built off the same architecture of the 4.2. :B:
