As some of you may already know, I've bid farewell to my Avalanche.  It truly was a bittersweet departure letting it go because I thoroughly enjoyed it and didn't really want to get rid of it.  It brought lots of joy.  The ride was great.  The lifted stance was sweet.  The bed covers were an additional plus.  The only problem was that it just isn't capable of hauling what I need, and that's why I let it go.  If I was to perform extensive engine mods, like a super charger, I would still need to contend with the tranny and gears, and it would still just be a 1/2 ton gasser under lots of strain.  I didn't want to destroy it either hauling my toys around either, and felt it better to let someone else enjoy it.

I purchased a '07.5 Chevy 2500 HD with the Duramax/Allison Crew Cab short bed for my replacement.  Needless to say, I won't have any of the power or towing problems any more.  I must say this is the best quality vehicle I have seen GM come out with in a long time, although I didn't look at the AV. ;)  They've come a long way from prior models.  The power this diesel has is unbelievable, and I think I'll be needing new tires in the very near future.  Anyway, it's fully loaded black on black.  No pics because it's been raining just a little here around Houston.

I miss the saddle bags.  I'm going to get a roll-up type bed cover and a box or 2 for storage in the bed.  While I'm at it, I might as well get the bed Line-x'ed.  The AV rubber mat was nice.  Backing up is actually worse than the AV was.  Lot's of little differences, but the biggest has to be the ride itself.  The AV was plush and the HD, well, it's not, but it's still a smooth ride.

I've only owned Chevy's my entire life.  I will admit I considered the Ford, but I came to my senses. :badidea:

congrats on the new HD
did you sell the av or trade it in?
She's traded.  I stood firm on what I wanted for the sale & trade and left.  Numerous calls back to me, then I said meet the numbers or stop calling.  They called me back @  8:45 PM and agreed to the numbers. (y)

I'm not going anywhere.  As exotic as we all hold the AV to be, most parts cross over the lines.  I don't expect to get any diesel info over here, but I know where to go for that.

For others cruising the net, I think you'd be surprised at how many different forums reference this site for tech information.  There's a wealth of information over here, and that's just part of what makes this site so great.

Believe it or not, when I opened the door and saw Flint, MI, you're the first person I thought of.  If you had anything to do with this truck, my hat's off to you.  Thank you.  Best Chevy I've gotten, so far. (y)

Are you going to lift it  ??? :D

It's possible.  I still need to break it in first and take on a few payments before I go that route, not to mention the lifted trucks don't haul quite as well.  I'll have to weigh it out.

First and foremost, I have to get the bed-liner and a cover.  High on the list will be a replacement bumper-there's too much chrome up there.

BUDMAN, I feel ya..if I every have to replace the AV I am going desiel next time.. I have a boat and one day I would like to have a camper. So I want the towing power. I pull my boat to the Keys and back once a year. The AV does OK but I wish it had more grunt....that or put a S/C on it when it is paid for in a year or so :needhug:
