I believe I got a good deal on some silverstars that I bought from AdvanceAuto Parts today. Got both the high beams and low beams for $53. Got them installed under 6 minutes. The first mod that I have done by the way. Now if I can just find a good bulb set to replace the bulbs in my fog lights!! (taken any suggestions)

:B: >:D :B:

Silverstar makes the bulb for the foglamp now. There was a post about it a few days back. Do a search for silverstars and it should pop up.

They look sweet.. reading through some threads some say the 893 is to powerful have you noticed this yet ?? Also, I didn't find these in advanced auto parts. Do I have to order through the internet ?? Dang if I do :6:

I had the 885's before and they melted my reflector in the housing. Some say they have no problems others like myself do.

I dont think the 893's will be to powerful it's only like 10watts over stock.

So the 880s are the safe bet and the 893s aren't causing you any problems.. I think I might gamble and see how they do cause they look really good in the pics. These fogs I got now look piddly especially after installing thes SilverStars lows and highs.

Some people with the 55 Watt bulbs have had melting housings (Lanman1). Others with the 55 Watt bulbs have had no problems at all (Wiki) >:D >:D >:D

Just had to rub that back in Lanman1's face a bit. We compared our bulbs from different manufacturers, and his housing was melting. We both have 55 watt hyper white bulbs in our fogs, but his brand is melting the housing. I have had mine in for about 6 months now with no problems. (y) (y)

I'm sure lanman1 will appreciate that rubbing !!! (he probably doesn't but I am sure he is just going to have to take it like a man heheh >:D >:D) Are they the Silverstars that you have Wiki or anothe brand?

My high beams are #9011. I have looked on Sylvania's web site and they do not make them. Are you guys substituting the #9011 for some other number.

I have a 2500 4x4

Yup, use the 9006s, they fit and work just fine.

As for the melting housings, I'm workin on a mod that should solve that. Permanantly. 300W worth of billet aluminum fog cutting power >:D

By the way, the lights that are melting my housings are White Plazma 893s by Hyper Industries. Stay away!

$53.00 USD for all 4 headlights in the Silverstar is a good price.... Cheapest I've found hear is $100.00 CDN and thats at Canadian Tire... Should have spoken with CTCGirl for a deal maybe!

The 893ST fogs are not available here yet! Maybe 3 weeks, and they are $30.00 CDN each at the local Electrical shop, as the local Auto pro shops states No way, can't get them....
I am also going to look at getting the 3147AST turn signal lamps... Hopefully one of the Auto shops in Watertown NY or on my way to Lake Placid will have some in stock...

Either way, US is cheaper!!!

While looking for 893's Silverstars which I haven't found yet :6:. I have tried searching for the thread about keeping your fog lights on when you turn your brights on. Does anyone know where that thread is. It drives me up the wall when the fogs turn off just cause I hit the brights :E:

Got to get those brighter fog lights ... I was driving tonight and I could barely tell they were on with the Silverstars ;D

9006 are for Low Beam
9005 are for High beam and replacement for the 9011
880 are for fog ( and are about 27 watts ) and you can use 885 ( 55 watt ) or 893 ( which are 38 watt )

OK ..... today I am going to get my fog light silverstars... time to start looking for good pricing and a store that carries them over the counter. I think after careful consideration I am going with the 893s... can't wait >:D >:D >:D >:D >:D

Oh me!! Now that I have done the runningboards, domed decals, patriotic bow tie, amber DRL's, etc. now it seems I really should change out my high and low beam bulbs and fog light bulbs.

Just in case I decide to do another mod, does Autozone or O'Rielly's carry the Silverstars???

Since I live on the Gulf Coast can probably justify the better fog light bulbs "Gee dear, it really is safer!" ;D But I'm not sure about the high and low beams. :(

So--bulb numbers for Silverstars that won't melt my fog lamp housing (2003 AV) and for the high beams and low beams from Silverstar also would be appreciated.

Sigh!!! I can tell this is never gonna end and I can hear the reaction to the next ten ods now. :7:

ChevyAv2003, is this AdvanceAuto Parts a web site or a store (or store chain)? I've seen others speak of it, but haven't located it. I tried www.advanceautoparts.com but they don't seem to even carry Silverstars so I'm thinking that this isnt' who you are refering to (they also claim to have no lights at all for a 2003 Av). Also, I've yet to actually find the 880s or 893 in any store and am having a hard time finding an online source for them other then Sylvania directly (who claims it takes 7 to 10 days to get an order from). If you find a chain that carries them, please pass it on. I've so far talked to a Pep Boys and a Murray's and both said that they have no intention of carrying them. I'd try more places but currently I'm on crutches with a broken leg so I've been trying to keep running around to a minimum.

http://www.advanceautoparts.com/ is the website but they are a local Eastern chain of store. I went through website and it is poorly designed cause they say they don't but I know they do. Autozone should also carry them. The Regular price for the silverstars that I found was $19.98 a piece or the twin pack that was $38.88. Luckily the Advancedauto parts store is having a grand opening locally and got a good deal on them. I haven't been to an O'Reileys since I lived out in Oklahoma. So I don't know about them. Napa might carry them but not for sure on that either.

I haven't had a chance to find any info on the fog lights though :(
If I find a local dealer that carries the fog lights I will defiantely let everyone know. If I don't then it looks like I will be ordering directly from Sylvania.
