South Louisiana AVers, this Sunday June 6th. Manchac, Louisiana at the Gator's Den Lounge on highway 51 just south of the Manchac pass bridge. All day party to benefit Special Olympics. Live bands playing all day and a cajun chef cookoff competition with I think about 15 cooks. Five dollars get you a sample of all foods cooked in the competition. There are also drawing for door prizes and lots of other fun things. All proceeds go to the Special Olympics. I realize it's a little late to organize a GTG for this but I think we will probably try to go there about noon to support this event. Anyone else interested please try to attend this very worthwhile event.

Kajun...I agree, this sounds like a wonderful cause. I don't have any idea where this is exactly...but I have seen the Manchac reference in the Prairieville area.... Am I close?

What's the time kajun? Not sure if I will make it. I have a memorial picnic/lunch for a friend who has past a year ago on the 1st. But if the times are right...i'll definitly try to swing it.

Mud, the time is 10 am until. We are planning to leave Gonzales probably about 11 am to arrive there sometime about noon.

Tracie, if you want to follow us in give me a yell. If not, just take I-10 east to the Hwy 51 exit in Laplace and travel north on Hwy 51. The highway has just been resurfaced and is a beautiful ride through the swamp. It's about 12 miles or so to Manchac. Gator's den is just before you cross the bridge on your right.

Hi Tracie, no problem. I haven't heard from you in a couple of days and thought maybe we scared you off. ;D The fundraiser was really great, lots of great food, great bands, and very cold beer. They had a large turnout and raised a lot of money for special olympics. Only problem is it was hot as hell.

Well...even though I was unable to attend, I am thrilled that it was a sucess...

Thanks for the update Kajun!
