I have the door panel off, and was intending to install puddle light projectors. Was looking for an orange wire with black stripe to tap into, but there is no such wire in that harness. Anyone have the reference needed?

Thanks much for any help!

Well, I ran out of time and light so I put the truck back together. I installed one projector, but could not proceed with the wiring just yet.  I'd like to tie them into the puddle lights. It makes sense, and I'd rather not run wires back through the door...

If anyone can help me figure out which wires to tap, I'd sure appreciate it.

It should be an orange wire with black stripe.  That's what it was with my 05, when I tied in my underglow to the puddle lights.

If you pull out one of the puddle lights (the whole assembly, not just the bulb), you should be able to see which wires connect to the bulb itself.  It could be a different color on the '13's.

I just tied mine to the door light on the door panel..  It works anytime the interior light comes on, like when you hit the door unlock or lock on your remote..  I don't remember what color the wires are. We did the same thing to my son's Silverado.

I didn't think of that in time, but I'll do that when I try this again. I'll take pics and post as well...

I believe the orange wire is in the harness that goes between the mirror and the door switch assembly.

I'm switching mine to the wire from the latch that tells if its open or closed, as the puddle light only comes on when you unlock the truck, not every time you open the door.

Let me know how that works - and what wire you used!  :E:

OK, I finally got around to finishing what I started, and have a few notes to pass on to anyone thinking about this one. Once done, it does look awesome! Very happy with the outcome.

The pic above shows the installed projector inside the door panel. I wanted mine to be able to be easily disconnected, so I soldered some longer wires to the light, then used crimped on bullet connectors. Nice benefit to this is I could work on it at a comfortable work table, then just plug everything in just before reinstalling the door panel. (Once you get everything plugged in, do a test! Remember that is has to be dark for the puddle lights to come on - or you can cover the sensor with something. Hit the unlock, and the lights will come on.) I also spent some time trying to align the lights so that the image ended up perpendicular to the truck.

I used a vampire tap for power from the puddle lights. For a ground, I used the 10mm bolt at the bottom of the door. Ran both wires up to where the modular connectors attach. Again, I used bullet connectors so I could take the door panel off again without any damage.
