GPS Output Mod to Onstar

Came across a nice site that shows how to mod your onstar to give it a Serial Output.

It is a fairly easy mod. Very Detailed Instructions.

Although I align with the doubt of voiding an entire warranty....
It's what was stated in the first paragraph:

"Unfortunately for such tinkerers, modifying the OnStar service can often invalidate not only the OnStar warranty, but the warranty for the entire vehicle."

You never know what they'll do. I can see it now "Your transfer case is shot but you modified your OnStar so the bill's on you". :3:

I think that only works on the older models.

What would it take to start an alternate service to Onstar?

1) Call Center to answer the calls
2) Modem to grab the GPS data
3) Maping software to see where the client is
4) Database to figure out who to call where

Also, has anyone read about any hacks on changing the phone number OnStar calls?

I planned on doing this until I discovered how OnStar and it's tracking could be defeated so easily. For only $65 or so you can get a USB or Serial GPS and hide it away so you don't have wires hanging around.
