A couple of months ago, I made the mistake of shopping at REI. For those not familiar with the business, REI is an ourdoor-oriented store that specializes in outdoor equipment. I hunt and sometimes I can find great stuff there.

The problem is that most of REI's customers are yuppie/green types.

Knowing this, I parked my AV a full two hundred yards away from the store. My AV was about a hundred yards from the nearest vehicle.

Anyway, I went in REI, found nothing, and returned to my AV in about ten minutes. When I approached the rig, I found that someone had put a dent in the driver's door.

The dent was about one-eighth inch deep and about three-quarters of an inch wide. The dent was three inches above the cladding and there was no mark on the cladding. Obviously, it wasn't an accident.

The very center of the dent showed that it had been done with a centerpunch or a similar instrument.

I lived with it for a while and completed my mods.

I took the rig to a local body shop about a week ago. The owner confirmed my suspicions. He'd had a rash of SUVs and SUTs with centerpunched doors and fenders. Apparently, the Greenie Weenies think that our rigs have too big a footprint on the Earth and it is their duty to "brand" them.

The fix was surprisingly simple. For seventy-five dollars, the door jam was drilled and rods inserted to work out the dent. I was amazed that the body shop guy was able to worry the dent out. After finishing, he plugged the jamb hole with a plastic plug and touched up the small paintless center.

The door looks absolutely like new and I am once again proud of my Avalanche.

If I ever catch a Greenie Weenie marking my Avalanche, I will cut down the tree he is sitting in. That's a promise.

I was in downtown Seattle the other day with some time to kill, was near REI's flagship store and decided to go in. Realizing this area was a mecca for the pierced everything and tatoo crowd I thought maybe it wouldn't be such a good idea to leave my rig unguarded. ??? I laughingly thought that maybe it would be ok outside of The North Face Store since I drive a NFE. :0:

I am somewhat surprised that The North Face licensed their name to GM for an SUV type vehicle. Because of that I will check their store first for gear. :-* Kind of a shame condidering I have been an REI member since 1965.

Interesting that P/U' s tend to not get tagged. I never had a single incident in 9 years with my Sierra. Maybe the NRA sticker had something to do with that! >:D

Hadn't thought of the NRA sticker. Actually, mine is an Endowment Member NRA, which would tend to get the pierced unwashed even more excited.

Mine only said Life Member. I wonder if many of these twits would know what endowment meant? It's kind of funny, I was always worried that the NRA sticker would get me vandalized by the PETA wackos while parked out in the boonies bow hunting.

>:DI am glad to live here in Texas, imagine the reaction to my Av with not only my NRA sticker, but a H&K hitch cover AND a black bowtie in the grill with the H&K logo on it as well.

It is rotten that folks think that they can do stuff like that, and worse yet get away with it, best I not catch them pulling that kind of crap. :7:

Sounds like you need to have a Greenie Weenie Roast. >:D

The side dishes would have to be tofu and sprouts.

Yes, I may be an old dude (fifty-eight), but if I caught one of these mutants scarring my AV, I would tend to beat on his unworthy body. ?I do not get mad often, but messing with my baby would put me totally over the edge.

Don't see much reason for these folks to be alive anyway.

On another note: ?I truly an amazed that the unsightly dent could be removed so completely. ?Other than the tiny speck of touchup paint, the dent simply isn't there.

I wasn't aware of the fact that "paintless dent removal" was possible. ?Amazing.

Obviously, I am quite delighted to have the AV perfect again.
