We might be able to arrange a meet through Jasper and down to Banff, as I noticed you are staying on a weekend. If work - and my paycheque; I just started last week - agree with it, I might be able to drag some others out there with me.GreyAvalanche said:Sparky,

How old is the Sheraton, by the way? This is a side note; I was driving down Barlow when the 'S' in their name came free from the building and crashed onto the lobby/restaurant/whatchamacallit on the ground floor. Was very impressive to watch.sparky said:Once upon a time you would have had a choice of about 1, the Sheridan, but there are a bunch now. With the NE growing as both tech and light industrial everybody's been jumping in. Hampton, of course Sheridan, Radisson, port of call (older), Greenwood Inn, Days Inn Airport, Coast Plaza, Supre 8, Mariott's Residence, etc., I would stay away from the north Holiday Inn, it really depends on what type of set up you are looking for. Pm me with some more details if you want.
Reminds me of the Ford advertisement about Canadian weather where the Focus is outside, it is pouring rain, then suddenly the car is covered in leaves falling from the sky, then about four feet of snow on top of that.av_2500 said:Oh well... In canada temperature can go to different extremes in minutes. So looks like you'll have to wait before figuring out how many parkas to bring...

"What do you do if you do not like the weather in Canada? Wait five minutes."
Definitely. It was four or five years ago that is snowed on Canada Day.GreyAvalanche said:Boar ral, I agree.... incalgaryAlberta you can get all 4 seasons in one day...![]()
The only possible way that I might be able to visit is if I leave to visit my parents Friday night, then continue to Calgary and Banff on Saturday. But by the time I arrive and with the time I would need to return, I do not think we would have much time for anything more than coffee, and as much as I would enjoy meeting, I am not sure if I can deal with a combined driving time of ten hours round trip.GreyAvalanche said:with this trip being so short, and on this particular weekend.... I do not think I will have much time, nor will many members... however I will probably be back up in the calgary area a couple times this year. That is if things go well this trip.
I hope that things work out in a way that is agreeable to all who are involved. I am still working on the girlfriend front, to say nothing of marriage.GreyAvalanche said:My main reason for coming up there this weekend is to see if things can be worked out with my ex-fiance... we have been talking about getting back together for a few months.... but living 2000 miles away makes it more difficult. ( I broke it off, she wants to get back together).
That would definitely work out better. We could meet in Calgary, Banff, Jasper, or Edmonton, and begin a long roundtrip journey.GreyAvalanche said:The next time I come up it will probably be for a week, so I will definitly have time to meet up with members... however that will probably be 6 months away or so.
Don't think there is anywhere else in Canada where the weather can flip like Calgary, just the whole mountain thing.GreyAvalanche said:Boar ral....

I get into calgary just after 2pm.... will get to banff around 4, check in eat.. yada yada yada..... saturday... lunch at St. James Pub..... then dinner at 5:00..... sunday leave banff at around 9am.... get to airport by if not before 11:00am.....
I think that with it being Valentines day weekend, and Banff being quite a drive out for everyone.... meeting up with fellow Avers would be best to wait till my next visit.
