did you have any lights in the gauge cluster? if not, i would check the harness behind the gauge cluster. it may have not been fully engaged, and vibrated itself loose. i have seen this happen on two trucks. one was the gauges. while the other was the a/c to compressor harness under the hood.
to check you will have to remove the dash bezel. put e-brake on. pull shift handle to 1 position. grab dash bezel by one of the corners and pull. work your way around the bezel until it is completely disengaged from dash. you will have to pull the bezel down and out from the top to clear the top of dash. there are four screws. one in wach corner of the gauge cluster. if i remember correctly you will need a 9/32 socket to remove the screws. becareful not to drop the screws into the dash area. look behind the gauge cluster. the harness should be fully engaged, or locked into the cluster assembly. to install do the reverse. hope this fixes your problem. good luck.
