Has anyone test drove the H2? I see LOTS of them around here. There are also a lot of Avalanches. My ship would have to come in before I could even think that way...........

Butch,

I have not yet test drove the hummer, but I have been planning to for quite sometime. I'd love to get one...but a little bit out of my price range now!

I test drove the H2 when it first came out in San Antonio. It was great!!! Highway driving felt wonderful, quiet, and smooth. Slow speeds was a little sluggish, but not much. It is roomy and comfy. My AV Z-71 is just as good though! And it has a bed when I need it. Just a note: a lot of H2's have been showing up on used car lots and the price is being discounted in lots & lots of places instead of steadily going up. Kinda makes ya wonder if there is a problem?

I don't now if anyone is interested in this or not.. BUt since it is about the h2.. Did ya know that they are coming out with the h2-sut that has the same type of midgate as the AV.. hmmm

alot of people are selling thier H2's due to how thirsty the truck is.... 10mpg is fine when towing.... but the H2 gets 10mpg average city/hwy without a trailer in tow..... there have been letters and articles in magazines to this affect. just my 2 cents....

When I went to pickup my AV a month ago, the truck was not ready so I convinced the dealership to let me borrow a H2 for a few hours. It was fun, but had much less headroom. Every time I went to turn around and look at my son, I would hit my head on the overhead storage unit and I'm only 6'2". The interior seemed cheap for a $50,000 plus truck. And it is still an SUV, not as practical for moving things as the AV.

I'm glad I drove the H2 for a few hours because now I know I don't want one. Hope this gives you some insight.

Plus the mileage on the AV is bad enough!!!

I drove one. Though it is an impressive truck, it was not as nice as I expected it to be. I like the ride of my Av much better.

I went to the dealership recently to get some warranty work done. While I was waiting my salesman came in and threw me a set of keys, and said, "It's the big yellow one out front. I'll call you when your Avalanche is ready." Drove it around for a couple of hours. I enjoyed it, especially the tuned 6.0. But as others said I couldn't afford the gas milage any more than I could afford the H2.

Come on, now, really. Do not bash the H2, it is AWESOME, except for the shizzy gas mileage.

My father has one. Traded his Escalade for it.

I would trade my Av in a heartbeat for one...if the $ was right.

It has fantastic power, compared to the Av, and is extremey nimble and fun to drive.

The interior is classic retro....

I like em'!

Never driven one but I'm 6 1" and my head almost touches the roof. That's about the same headroom as me in my tiny honda civic. There's like 100 of them at the Hummer dealer in San Juan Capistrano, CA. All are marked down now.

I test drove one last year when I was buying my second AV.

I loved it. But there wasn't any incentives on the Hummer 2, they were selling at list price. Now they are selling the H2s at invoice and with some incentives. They ae even offering the GM Supplier Discount on the H2s now. This is starting to get into my reach! Last week I had the dealer down to $46,000 on an H2 that listed at $57,800 and 2.9% finanacing.

I'm 6'2" and the H2 had the same headroom as my AV's. Both the H2 I drove and the AV's I own have sunroofs.

Comparing the AV to the H2 is kind of apples and oranges. If I only could have one truck it would be the AV no doubt. But if I were to trade one of my AVs today, I would be driving the H2 home!

The difference in mileage wouldn't make that big of a difference to me. Most of the H2 owners I have spoke with are getting 12 mpg around here and I get 14 to 15 mpg in my AVs.

Two different vehicles. Both are great trucks!

I see no one has mentioned the fact that my Vette has more storage space than the H2 (well almost). With that spare FULL SIZE tire in the cargo area, you can't fit anything back there, it's not a SUV it's a SV.

I found myself in the vicinity of the Hummer dealer today with an hour or so to kill soooo....I took an H2 out for a spin.

It was much more comfortable then I expected, and I liked the interior layout. It doesn't have the usable space that the Av's got though. The short wheelbase let's this thing turn a pretty tight circle. I easily did a u-turn in a cul de sac that requires a y turn in the Av. As much as I liked the H2, I didn't find myself lusting over it after I left the dealership, nor did I spend any time scheming how I might sell off any prized possessions in order to swing one. Next time I'm in the area I plan on driving the H1 through their "test pit" as the salesman called it.

i have not had the oppurtunity to drive one. i will love to get behind the wheel of one to experience the feel.

Maybe its just me but I cant get past how short the nose is on this thing. I'm sure they are nice and a blast to drive but the original is much more appealing to me it just looks too boxey. We have a local kid ???driving around an original that is high gloss black with a killer stereo and lifted. :cool:Now that one is bad to be had. Dont know how parents can foot the bill to put highschool kids in rides like that but hey to each his own on Hummers as well as every thing else.

i have noticed that they are alot of H2's in the used car lots as well. did not know the prices might actually reasonable. i amy have to stop and look at one next time i spot another. they are very nice trucks. would like to have the chance to drive one to make a decision on if this is something i would like to have.

forgot to mention if i did get rid of the AV it would have to be for the H2. at least for now. unless something sweeter come out. i thought about the SSR, but too small. lokked at a Prowler the other day, but too small also.

I think the H2's as daily dirvers are overkill......Living in the metro Los Angeles area, seeing all these wankers loading golf clubs into their H2s as if they were going on safari. I wonder what percent of H2s ever clock more than 2 hours off road?

Even with as much as I do with my AV, I still wonder if I am not driving more truck than I really need. And the H2 for gosh sake....I can't help but think buyers remorse is even more severe. They can pass any obstacle, except 10mpg!

In all honesty, we could probably all admit that the Av is bit of an overkill for what we need. But certainly not as bad as an H2.

I look at it this way - I could spend just as much or even more money on another SUV or truck and not get half the features of the Av.

The Av gives me several things I really need:

seating for up to 6 people
good ride
dry and lockable bed, expandable up to 8', which I use quite often
towing capacity

It also gives me stuff I don't absolutely need, but I love anyway:

cool looks
side storage compartments
uniqueness
rubber bed liner

I can justify the Av in my drive way many different ways. Have a Dogrango and not enough room for long hauls with 3 kids one being an 11 mnth old (stroller, extra baby stuff. Kids and their stuff etc..) Icey roads in the winter, traded from a 91 Camaro that was more of a sled then any thing on ice havent had it on ice but with all the weight I'll bet its better then the standard trucks. Dirty baseball gear in the back, not worried about all the dust and mud in the back and locked away dont have to unload after practice vs the Tahoes and Suburbans. Hunting gear and stuff locked safely in bed out of sight out of mind. Storage compartments keeps rusty tow chain and emergecy road gear from rolling around in the bed. Seperate stereo controls for back seat for the kids. Killer looks and decent performance .. Must I go on. Overkill I think not more a case of the perfect blend of truck, SUV and car ability in one package out the gate. Justify the H2 :cautious: :-X ???.

I have 47K, I want a H2.

H2 justified

but, bought the Av and saved 10K, plus...I do like it better.

I drove my dad's H2 yesterday and then jumped in my Av...

The Av fits my lifestyle better, right now. When I hit 40? ???

I test drove an H2 a few months before getting my AV. I needed the ability to haul stuff, which the H2 just didn't provide. If the H2 SUT was released before I had purchased my AV I think I probably would have gone with it instead.

The ride was great, nice and smooth. Don't get me wrong, I love my AV . But, when the SUT comes out I'm definitely going to have to think hard about not trading it in.

i just saw a Sage Green H2 the other day. it is at a local Caddy dealer here in town. and the Ford dealership has a SOM H2 if i remember correctly. i really love the green one. i want to test drive one. if i wen to the Caddy dealer it would be no problem to drive one. i don't want to get my hopes up only to be let down by the price. and the lack of my cash flow to pick it up. :6:
