Hard to shift into park

Started recently.  Intermittently hard to go into park.  If I try 1-2 more times it goes in.  It feels like it might be in the dash.  Any ideas? 2008 4speed auto.

Maybe the shift cable is going bad?

Is there a loud "clunk" when you shift into park? Possibly the whole truck might jerk?

No noises or such.  Just had to kind of force it into park.  Took it to trans shop.  Turned out to be the cable extension inside the trans. The bung at the end which goes into the park gear broke off.
